Advice needed. My orange £25 18 month contract ends soon. I hated orange, the signal is terrible for me while 02 is really good. I want to move to 02.
However orange are offering me a free upgrade (Galaxy Nexus) I really want this phone. If i open an 02 contract the phone will be on a very expensive tariff.
If you have a poor signal then why are you even considering this? A new phone may be a bit better signal wise, but can't perform miracles. You'll still suffer from poor signal and although the UMA access (aka SignalBoost or Vodafones SureSignal), remember your paying both your line rental and minutes used, as well as having to supply the broadband too. Not a bad deal for the telecoms companies your paying a lot of their costs....
Three are cheap but there is no signal round me, it's better for me to pay a little more and use Vodafone than to save a few quid and not be able to use the phone at home.
And to be honest loyalty in terms of time means nothing its all down to how much you spend each month, and if you are spending £25 and not going over that each month you'll won't get the great deals on any new phone just the older stock but good luck trying.0 -
Orange website gets updated like Jordons collegen, bi-annually YOU need to call Orange handset dept and ask if Nexus S will have it, Orange have publically stated most Android handsets from mid 2011 supplied by Orange will have Kineto SmartWifi app installed - thats for UMA/SignalBoostSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

You seem to have missed the point.
18x£25=£450 - well below any pre-order price on Galaxy Nexus.
Also, the ETC at Orange will be £450*5/6=£375 apparently.
Possibly, assuming the OP gets the phone for free, and on a £25 PCM contract it's 50:50 on a newly released phone. Taking the current top of the range Samsung a £25 pcm contract would get a £50 charge for the phone but thats a new customer not retentions.
Even with the ETC you still need to add at least £180 for 18 months service with GiffGaff to give a reasonable comparison so I'm not sure over the term of the contract it makes a huge saving doing it this way over the contract length.0 -
that number is a standard orange customer service number, I get phoned from orange on that number quite a few times. Usually when i request a call back, they have to ask you for first letters of your password for data protection they say. I guess they have to make sure they are speaking to the account holder since someone else could have answered the phone.
They ask me security question even though i might have spoken to the same guy literally 5 mins before, he said sorry but also said he needed to ask the questions for DP purposes.0 -
What does ETC stand for?0

What do you recommend? The Orange rep seemed very sure i would be able to get the galaxy nexus for free. He said "you can upgrade to any phone apart from the iPhone"0

Personally, I don't believe in anything said over a phone until I get it in writing. And I would never pay even £375 for any phone. My Desire cost me just over £100 in January on a redemption deal and I am happy with it.0
