Its probably automated dialer which once you answer tries to connect you to a person and none was available. Thats certainly what used to cause a lot of the silent calls that companies got fined for.

Thanks for that. :) I've had no more calls from them today so it looks like they've given up.
  • Just been on the phone to them - no luck...

Told them I'd seen the following offer:

    18 Months
    Free Samsung Galaxy S II
    300 Minutes
    300 Texts
    500MB Internet
    £25.54 a month

Could only match it but on a 24 month contract which I am obviously unwilling to do given the lifetime of phones, so I've got my PAC code.

Fingers crossed they ring me sometime this week though because I don't particularly want to leave, could do with a few more texts as well.

Ring them back good chance someone else will offer you a better deal.

Remember we are nearly at the end of the month so they all have targets to meet so where as one person might give you a deal which is average as they have met there targets someone else might need the sales to meet there target.

Also look around and see what offer providers are doing and also what Orange offer as a new customer and see if they can match any of it.

    Good luck

Think I'll give them the best part of tomorrow to ring me back if they don't I'll give them a ring tomorrow night. I'm in no rush to switch which is a good position to be in.

As it was said here many times, after requesting the PAC wait a little and they are likely to call you themselves with a better offer.

Agreed. That's why I'm going to give them a bit of time to do so - perhaps give it longer than the single day mentioned above. But I have no doubt they'll give me a ring, even if its just to echo the same offer they offered me previously.

where did u see this - was it with tmobile ?

i have found that trying to upgrade with orange is going to cost me more than to actually take out a new contract with them

  • hi!

I can upgrade my phone on the 4th of november, I just called orange to have a chat about offers etc and they said they wouldnt even be able to look at anything for me until the 4th when the upgrade 'screen' becomes available. does this sound right? I just noticed other posters said they've called up before the date to secure deals.

Also i was told previously my upgrade date was the 2nd of nov. now apparently its the 4th :$

You can definitely upgrade and/or agree a new contract proir to the end of your existing one. If they wont discuss it with you then just ask to be put through to the cancellation dept - that should get the discussion started :)
