thanks - maybe they have started going decent deals on the S2 now - or perhaps they dont like my usage recently.0

I ordered an Iphone 4 16gb on Orange for free on £31 a month from buymobilephones.net last Thursday. On Friday they said they were out of stock and estimated wait was 3 weeks, So I cancelled the Order.
I got a call from them this morning say that the Iphone 4 is discontinued and instead I could have the Iphone 4s for free as a replacement. So i took it.
Saved £169 of the cost of the handset and am on a £31 a month tariff.
This one right? www(*)buymobilephones(*)net/mobile-phones/Apple/Apple-iPhone-4-8GB-Black/Orange/Orange-iPhone-31-(24mths)/11512553 (replace *s)
I would go for it but i cant risk chancing it...for me to order it and it actually goes through...i want the 4s but they want me to pay the 169 as an upgrade...
the whole idea of the forum is money saving right? so i will keep hunting for a way to upgrade to the 4s for free. phone companies make enough!!0 -
I think you'll still be hunting at Easter if you think you'll get a 4s for free on a £30pm tariff - regardless of which network or how much you've spent in your current contract. good luck all the same, but I'd say you'll need a miracle rather than luck...0

i understand the more i look into it the unlikelihood. We will see how the £35 picks up in the next 2 months, contracts till christmas so plenty of time.0 -

No that is not the right one. If you read my post again, it says 16gb, and it also says it is discontinued. The 8gb is the one they sell now. If you order that, thats what you'll get.:(
In all honesty the Iphone 4s is a waste of money in my opinion. there is hardly any difference between it and the previous one only the camera. Siri doesn't really work. And the battery is worse. The apps might load 1 second faster thats all.
You'd be better picking yourself up an iphone 4 on ebay and going on a £10 tariff with someone like giffgaff.0 -
Quidco are doing cashback on the iphone 4s, from apple store, 3.5%. Makes it £485.00 after cashback.0

My upgrade journey is complete.
I was on iphone £30
150 texts
250 mins
unlimited date (but probably fair usage cap)
Orange direct weren't offering me much to work with. Went into phones4u and negotiated:
Samsung Galaxy S 2
400 mins
3000 texts
750mb
2 swapables
£31 on on 18 month contract (that was the key issue for me to get off 24 month contract)
£100 for handset - but they were doing a promo where if you brought in any phone you got £100 cashback so I used a 5 year old nokia to offset handset price.
I'm content, don't think I got a miracle deal but my urge to get a new phone was too strong to resist. From my experience, avoid orange directly to get a better upgrade.
