Orange Retention Offers

I pay £10 per month for unlimited BB data/mms/email, 100 mins & unlimited texts. Perfect for what I need, I buy my phone outright & don't use many mins. My BB will work using a regular data/calls/texts plan in the US too so totally quids in!

Hi
I spoke to Orange today, my contract ends in Nov but I'm just about eligible for an upgrade now (and extra months will be added to contract)
They offered me
BB torch 9800 free
1100m + 600t + unl landline + BB mail for 18 months
for £20/m
or Samsung Galaxy 2 for £42
same offer as above (-BB bundle)
for £17.50/m
So prices work out to be the same. I think this is a pretty good offer! Interestingly the first time I called, the lady I spoke to offered me only 100t and extra £2.50/m for each offer. But the 2nd time I spoke to a man who seemed to think I had been offered as above - I didn't correct him!!
Sadly they don't have the white torch which I really want... I said I'd have a think about it and he will call me back later this evening.
I'm going to figure out which phone I prefer - everyone seems to want the samsung galaxy 2!
So I called back to take up the offer on the torch - but apparently the guy I'd spoken to had made a mistake - it was actually £23/m and 100t, not £20 and 600t! How disappointing!
He managed to get it up to 600t after speaking to a manager, but still at £23/m. I reluctantly accepted - it is still a good offer! It is exactly what I'm on now but with a new Blackberry phone! And it is still an 18 month contract which is brilliant. However I did have to pay £2 for the phone! That made me laugh!:rotfl:
So I actually got
BB Torch 9800 for £2 (!)
1100m + 600t + bb bundle + unl landlines
£23.14/m for 18 months
Looking forward to it arriving! I was tempted to get the galaxy s2, but I really am a BB convert and was happy to pay a bit more per month for the BB bundle!
From what I've picked up - they can give you a better offer if you stick to the plan you're already on and they can add things to it. My contract is an 18 month plan that I've been on since 2008 - they just keep adding things to it as it's better value than the newer plans they have.
Obviously if you wait until the last 30 days or even when the contract is finished you'll get much better offers - I just couldn't be bothered to wait!0 -
So I just called up to ask about an upgrade and said I wanted the Galaxy S2. He then goes on to offer me a £35 a month Dolphin or something with 700 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb data. I pay £25 a month currently. I ask to keep my current contract and he tells me it will cost £150 up front for the phone. I replied that I can get my deal elsewhere for nowhere near that price: Tesco is £50 up front, and elsewhere I can get better deals than £35pm. He basically said "That's fine, but this is our price. If you want to go elsewhere we can give you a PAC".
Don't really want to leave, but do not want to pay £150 up front, or £35 pm...0 -
iinga - call again and speak to someone else! You might have better luck0

Don't you just hate but love upgrading.... It's somewhat of a hassle but yet a challenge to see what you can get.
My contract ends on 12 Sept and I really really want the Iphone. Called today asking to leave and they asked why. So I said I want the iphone and I know Three have some great deals but he was unable to match it or do any discounts. I kinda knew this and I really want and also need the Iphone above Android or Blackberry which I have. He could only offer me £40 a month for 600mins and 400 texts and free phone for 24 months. I don't want to wait until iphone 5 comes out as that is about 2 months away.
So I asked for the PC code which I got instantly. Been with Orange 12 years and also have another phone with them which I pay just £1.99 via cash back deal from E2save.
So I went into an Orange shop as I was walking past and said:
Do you do the same deals as retentions on the phone or do you work differently??
Guy said they have some discretion. Checked my band which I thought had stopped and said he can do me Iphone 4 for £30 on 18month contract for £35 a month. 325 mins, 150 text and 750 mb. I don't need more than this as I have the spare e2save phone with unlimited texts and 400 mins.
Now I think that is a great deal for Orange. Tried Carphone and Phones for you and they wanted me to pay £70 for the handset for 24 months....
Just goes to show you just have to ask wherever you are and if you don't like what you first hear hang up and call back in the hope you find someone else. Or pop to your local Orange store as they can do things as well.
Hope this helps....

i am not a heavy user and called a number of times to try and wangle a good deal for a samsung galaxy s2....
ended up with..
600 x-network minutes
unlimited texts
750 mb (up from initial 500mb due to them taking off 100mins talk time as a compromise)
BT Openzone access(after trying to get even more internet!)
30 image messages/month ( not really sure what that is worth)
£49.99 for handset
£25 month
24month contract
trying to get a similar deal for the HTC Sensation got me nowhere fast!0 -
I am at university. I already had a Blackberry 8520 and had been on Orange PAYG. I called up and explained that I wanted to go on Pay Monthly. I got a £25/month contract including 200mins, unlimited texts, internet, Blackberry internet, magic numbers. I then requested that I get a loyalty discount, which took my contract down to £17.50/month, I then requested that they find a further discount and so now pay £12.50/month but am not sure what this discount was for.
I also got a decent Nokia phone.
I have also noted that Orange's bill system is inaccurate. When your bill comes through, check the minutes add up. If they don't, call orange and explain that their system is inneffective and that you would like compensation.0 -
For anyone this might benefit:
I'm out of contract and have been offered:
100 x-net minutes
Unlimited texts
500MB internet
£4.09 on a 30 day rolling SIM only
I have a company mobile with a HTC Desire for the majority of my calls/texts/internet, but for keeping my personal number active the above seems a great deal.0 -

thats interesting as my sister went into an oprange shop they said theres no way they can use any discretion on the iphone as apple sets the price and tariff
for 30 a month she would have had to pay over a hundred for the handset so she went for the 40 a month one instead
i dont know why some places do it and some dont it really annoys meWhat goes around-comes around0 -
So i called up today to request my PAC and was offered 600mins, unl texts, 500MB data for £26pm with £99 up front cost. I guess Tesco are just too hard to beat, and the lady was very apologetic. It was better than the offer last week though.
Just got my PAC through and will join tesco. Very sad to leave orange, but I won't be sad about joining tesco who appear to be the best mobile network (according to which?).
My advice to other people: make sure you have a few deals for them to try to match. Unfortunately they could only match a vodafone one, and not tescos.0
