Retentions is not able to give me any good deal for any phone. They are just offering the same stuff on the website.

They have even offered me SPECIAL PROMOTIONAL DISCOUNT for upgrading. Which was a joke (details about the discount are in the image from the 1st post.)

Upgrade deals are based to a large extent on your spend over the last 6 months (there are other factor too). If you've not gone over your plan price much or at all then you're unlikely to get a good offer.

Loyalty counts for nothing these days, if they're not making money from you, they'll happily wave bye bye to you.

Orange clearly happy to lose customers. Have just been offered:
    HTC Desire
    500 mins
    unlimited texts
    500MG data
    £28 per month

Can't offer me a better discount because I use 'too many texts' (I have unlimited) and therefore 'cost too much'. After 5 or so years, shall be changing provider without a doubt.
  • Hi everybody
Just want to know if anybody manage to get an iphone4 through retentions on any good deal?

    Many thanks

Unlikely, as Apple control the market for the iPhone. You may be offered more minutes etc, but you will not get a discount on the phone. Do you really need to follow the heard though, as much better deals available with alternatives :)

Yah you might be right but i will lose all my magic numbers, plus the main reason to stick with orange is the conference calling facility, i pay £42.50 and i get 2200 cross net mins, 50 photo messages, unlimited internet and email free orange satnav ,text messages plus 10 magic numbers, where will i get all this for this much amount? although i am not happy with the 3g signals.

Now i want an iphone4 cuz at my last upgrade they didnt negotiate any deal for iphone, i mean in the terms of extra mins and stuff cuz they said we cant add anything to the iphone tariffs. Any suggestions now ? i need these minutes cuz i use them.

    Many Thanks

When Gadgetmaster suggested not to follow the heard and consider alternatives he meant alternative phones actually, not alternative networks.

Well said Grumbler, that was indeed my point. Just wondering what specific features of the iPhone the OP actually needs. There are plenty of options using Android or Symbian OS that may suit, still with Orange, that give the option of negotiating discounts.

I've just been on the phone to a lovely man called Bruce in Retentions.

I'm a light user and I've accepted this offer:

    LG Optimus One -Free
    200 mins
    Unlimited data
    Unlimited texts
    30 free picture messages

    £13.79 pcm

To be honest, my main aim was to reduce my tariff which was £23, rather than have my mind set on a phone I couldn't afford. Bruce really surprised me, and he let me in on this info....

He said that Orange are working really hard to keep their customers to compete with 02 (said that 02 were 2nd biggest market share, because they excel in retaining custom). I was expecting a much harder fight that what I experienced so I'm happy! :T

Not my favourite phone, but a great deal, well done :)
