Don't hold your breath on a call back, you may well need to chase that up ;) Also, double check on the Orange Care insurance, as I seem to recall that they can no longer offer that as part of a retentions deal (legislation), so it may be that they are charging you for it...what would the offer be without that cover, and if you really want the cover, can you add it to your bank A/C, home insurance etc etc, as this may work out cheaper (I have used Lloyds A/C, and they were excellent when my wife needed to claim).

Well they did call back but I missed them so will give Orange a bell tomorrow. I'll look into the Orange Care bit as I didn't know about that.

After a week of calls I got the same deal all week

Desire HD or Galaxy S - £50 for phone

    24 months

    600 mins

    UL texts

    500mb Internet - £23 per month

Last girl I spoke to offered the Desire free

I had been tempted to go to T-mobile but was going to go for this

The girl was to call me back att 11.30 but the call never came

I then called back and got Wayne

Wayne proceeded to call me a liar as T mobile couldn't beat any Orange deals - he then told me ha wasn't bothered if I left because they would get the money anyway if I went to T-mobile
He then told me that I could get 20 meg broadband here (8 meg is the max)
Then told me that he would be happy to issue my pac code because I didn't spend enough for Orange to care less

    Now here's the rub Wayne

I don't spend a great deal on my Private mobile phone

However I am in charge of my company's mobile phone deal

(they spent £150 k with Orange in the past year - but will be moving to o2 at the end of April )

    Well Done Wayne

I bet your bosses are very proud of you

    See my post here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2627719

I always keep a note of names but was so upset with this phonecall I slipped up; however, I really think it was 'Wayne'. He was the rudest person I have ever spoken with.

Trying to negotitate an upgrade now but no joy so far. 3 have excellent deals on at the moment and I am tempted to get a contract for them for my son (who has the Orange phone in my name). I am with 3 and whilst a phone call to CS in India is hard work, I have been happy with the service. Shall have one more attempt at an upgrade today.

Just off the phone to Orange...

    Free HTC Desire HD
    500 x-network minutes
    unlimited texts
    500mb internet
    24 months

    £17.87 a month

Took a bit of a push to get there from £22 (and mention of a Tesco Mobile deal that would be £17.50 a month)...

I was offered a reasonable deal today by retentions but not good competitive enough for my liking.

Armed with the research as recommended above (calculate cost of full contract including cashback and redemptions etc) I was offered the following -

    Samsung Galaxy S - Free
    600 minutes
    'unlimited' SMS
    1gb data
    Orange Care
    24 months

    £26.41 per month

This more than meets my needs as I only really use 200 minutes and 400mb of data per month but looking at a mobiles.co.uk offer I could get 300 mins, unlimited SMS and 500mb of data which would work out at £13.88 per month.
Orange are calling me back tomorrow so I'll see what they can offer in return.

Have just spoken to retentions again and mentioned the offer from mobiles.co.uk and was then offered the following

    Galaxy S - Free
    400 mins
    Unlimited texts
    1gb data
    24 months

    £17.85 pm

I said that this was still a bit away what I could get elsewhere and was told that the only way to get that down would be to contribute to the handset price and was given the same deal as above but instead of free phone it would be -

    £9.99 + £15.32 pm = £15.74 pm over contract lifetime ((£15.32 * 24) + £9.99)/24
    £69.99 + £12.76 pm = £15.68 pm
    £129.99 + £10 pm = £15.42 pm

This is much more like what I'm after and even though over 24 months the Orange offer could be a minimum of £41.89 more I think that I'll take their offer as it means not having to mess around with redemptions and worrying about Quidco tracking etc...

I think that the £9.99 + £15.32 option is probably best because the total cost over 24 months is only £10 more than spending £129.99 upfront.

Do Orange do memory sticks or any other accessories that I could possibly ask for to sway me?

Touchscreen is very flexible plastic to the point you hit the screen behind it itself, and not very responsive...avoid

Nice offer :) Handset could be better...depends what you want from it. Handy if you have poor reception but a wifi network you can attach to with the UMA technology. Not a fan of LG cameras or build quality, but that is my personal view. If they offered you a HTC Wildfire I would say snap their hands off, so it really depends what you want from the handset. You could always sell it on a well known auction site and buy something you prefer with the proceeds.
Agree, UMA SignaBoost - use this as a reason with retentions to get Wildfire, try both in Orange store and say retentions asked you to pop in to see both them to decide & the store will oblige you, UMA/Signalboost is provided by Kineto via Smart-Wifi an app on Android phones for UMA for Orange UK customers only

I'd be requesting a copy of the call recording under Data Protection Act & emailing the executive office at Orange his disgraceful behaviour and how you have never had "care" like that whilst handling the business account, you will find a massive saving on both accounts & gain brownie points at work, get UMA phones on the account as this saves Orange money and thus savings can be passed on ;)

I've had a few rude staff @ Orange over the years & always report them, regardless of company, part of any sale is about customer care being part of the agreement.

Ah yes, Wayne striks again :) Wife spoke to him, denied all knowledge of previously agreed offer (agreed by me, she just needed to confirm she was happy with it), until she pushed. He even went back on his offer to add some free photo messages (not too bothered about those, so didn't push it). I would love to see the look on his face if he reads your post...are you able to give feedback on this when your company moves?
I have previously advised customers viewing this thread to always remain polite, but yes, it does go both ways. Enjoy your T-mobile/O2 savings :)

EVERYONE ! ask the person for thier name & 5 digit extention number and to notepad the offer to the account as none want to lose the commission/bonus so they dont mind you pondering over it & calling back (do ask what time do they finish shift) - offers are via the computer & bundle changing and flipping by the person minipulating such, the same offers/bundles do NOT always come up the next day.
