Orange Retention Offers

Do Orange offer sim only retention deals?
Mom's Raccon £35 plan coming to an end soon, be good to have an idea what to expect before calling.
My contract finished so I wanted to drop down to a SIM only while waiting for some of the new mobiles to come out. I have moved onto the Dolphin 20:
500 min
'Unlimited' texts
500Mb net
For £15.32 - £5 off. (I was on a £45pm contract before hand)0 -
In previous posts I've stated I'm on a Dolphin 50 (doubled to 100mins) for £15 pcm
Last years' bills regularly went up to £30 - 35.
Just don't understand the process...
basically I'd take 200 mins, a few texts and some internet
Best I've been getting offered is HTC wildfire or desire, 300 doubled to 600 (academic to my usage), unl txt 500mb internet for £23.
All these posters being offered pretty much what I'm after - why not me? I've been smiling all through the conversations at customer sevice and retwntions (CS have been nothing but pleasant with the duff offers, Retentions have been all but offhand dismissing this forum as 'pub talk')
I'm not really wanting to go above the £15 mark - hoped to get a handset to offset the purchase of the iphone I've just ebayed. Maybe sim only is the way forward...
What do iPhone tarriffs offer that regular ones do not? is it access to public wifi?0 -

Try retentons again, point out that Quidco offers £46 for an introduction to E2Save on a 24 month contract (46/24= £1.92 saving/month). Best deal for your above needs with a Wildfire is T-Mobile Web 300 5 Discount at £10.85 for 300mins, 300 SMS "unlimited data". Deduct your £1.92 cashback gives a pay rate of £8.93/month.
Try telling Retentions that you are happy with Orange, but just cannot justify paying them more than double what you can get a better deal for elsewhere...if you really don't want to move to T-Mobile, you could even lay your cards on the table and say that you would accept a deal around the £12-£15 mark if they will do that.
Otherwise, if you don't mind losing your number, or going through the hassle of moving it out to another network, then back to Orange, you can get the same phone with 300mins, unlimited SMS and 500Mb data on Orange (through the same process as above) for a pay rate of £10.86, so time to say goodbye to the current contract?
Good luck, and do keep us updated.0 -
hey as some of you may know the deal on tmobile posted on hotukdeals 600 mins 500 texts and internet on t mobile sim only 12 months at £7.66 a month.
As I've still got 2 months or so on orange I decided to ring up retentions and ask for a sim only deal. The best they could give was at around 10 pounds I quoted the above deal and then was put on hold for a while. When she came back she more or less matched the deal and I get to keep my orange magic numbers however its a 18 month contract. I then asked if I will get charged for paper billing which is around 2 pounds and she said she could waiver it for me.
You could say its a worse deal than t mobile but I think the deals only for a few days (So I would of missed it) plus I get to keep my orange magic numbers and can still use orange Wednesdays.0 -
Got really bad offers today .. so ordered pac code and moved to t-mobile 12 month half price sim only deal .. 7.5 GBP/month ( reduced from 15GBP , deal was available just over this weekend )
600 mins, unlimited landline ( or 500 MB internet or some other flexi component)500 text ..0 -

You should of asked for a sim only deal and quoted the tmobile price?
If you're at the end of your contract might be best if you just go for tmobile deal0 -

I was offered a reasonable deal today by retentions but not good competitive enough for my liking.
Armed with the research as recommended above (calculate cost of full contract including cashback and redemptions etc) I was offered the following -
Samsung Galaxy S - Free
600 minutes
'unlimited' SMS
1gb data
Orange Care
24 months
£26.41 per month
This more than meets my needs as I only really use 200 minutes and 400mb of data per month but looking at a mobiles.co.uk offer I could get 300 mins, unlimited SMS and 500mb of data which would work out at £13.88 per month.
Orange are calling me back tomorrow so I'll see what they can offer in return.0 -
