  • Hi Guys,

I just phoned retentions to cancel a mobile broadband dongle, and while I was there was offered a new phone contract at the same time. I was in the second last month of the old contract.

    HTC Desire - £10
    400mins
    300texts
    Unlimited Landline
    500Mb

    £10.20 a month.
    24 months

Pretty happy with that, wanted a Desire HD but it was going to put up the contract cost loads so I decided I could live without it.

I was previously on a similar contract at £16pm, and I didn't haggle too hard with him, just turned down the first couple of deals the guy came up with.
    :)

Call after 16th Feb. see what deal they are giving, if u dont like it ask for PAC . U still have to pay for the last month of your contract. Once u get PAC there is a number along with it which would be your last option.
Retentions are on 150 only . Option 4 is for upgrades and in that 2 is for retentions 'thinking of leaving orange'

Thanks for the advice smartcrab2000, I have just called and got

    200 mins
    unlimited texts
    free internet
    free 15 photos
    free nokia C3-01
    24 months @ £7.66 per month

I could have had 400 free mins but that was £12.77 if I remember correctly, 200 mins is enough for me now.

The lady was so helpful, I hope she is still there in 2 years time!

I'm now into my "three month" upgrade period and think I'll have a go with Orange now at seeing what's the best upgrade I can get without having to add any money towards a new handet. I am on a good "loyalty" rate (for 18 months) at the moment which I'm hoping they'll renew as I've had a bit of bother with a few bills during this past term. I prefer Nokia handsets but never really keep up to date with what is the latest model! Can anyone suggest any Nokia handsets as a starting point so I have something to work with when I phone? I want the best I can get without having to add anything towards the price of the handset!

    At the moment I have:-

    Nokia 2730
£24pm but minus £8 for loyalty, so £15/£16pm
800 mins (reverts to 400mins after 18 months)
1300 texts (reverts to 300 texts after 18 months)
18 month contract (ending June 2011)

I see everyone is taking about the various HTC models - would anyone particularly recommend these? I seem to be eligible for a free upgrade to a HTC 7 Mozart and was considering this but not sure about straying from Nokia...!

    Thanks in advance!

Go for HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S. Nokia are not good anymore now. N8 is ok ok.. HTC Desire/Samsung Galaxy S or the higher end HTC Desire HD/Sansung Galaxy II are very good!

I second those thoughts, as a longtime Nokia user I recently made the switch to HTC with a Desire, and haven't regretted it for a minute. I also wanted an Android device, and a flash for the camera, so really had to be HTC. Reviews I found mirror my experience, and the wealth of free apps in the marketplace should keep anyone happy :j

And I say all this despite being an iPhone user! My friends have HTC and android is gr8!
  • I like to be able to send and receive music/pictures etc. via Bluetooth and use my own mp3 as ringtones - do the HTC/Samsung models you recommend allow this?

    Thanks again

does this look a good deal, currently pay £20.98 at the moment and have been offered

    Samsung Galaxy S - £63
    500mins
    300txt
    500mb
£20.98 a month over 24 months or same deal but £84 for the handset over 18 months
