I am not even on Orange, but I just want to commemorate you on that deal! That is great value, did you have to do much bargaining?

Not a massive amount not, just pushed to leave (as that was what I genuinely wanted to do as they screwed me over when my phone broke) and eventually this fine offer came out the bag.
Thats a Brilliante Deal Amy! Congratulations and Happy Savings... It would really help fellow MSE'ers if you could provide details on your old contract and what month of your contract u went for the above offer.

Eek, now you're asking. I'm an awful phone owner/user, so probably not normal, I forget to upgrade, get attached to an old rubbish phone, get lazy, etc etc. But I was about 4 or 5 months PAST the end of the contract I think. Had been paying £30 a month for 600 minutes, unlimited texts and no data. I'm also abroad a fair bit, and always use my phone more than I intend to, so my bills can be quite high.
Aiming for that elusive 'debt free' by Christmas 2012
:rudolf: [STRIKE]£6,000[/STRIKE] £4,279 and counting... #217 paid off £1721 :rudolf:

You're better off taking it in and then arranging a return. The carrier will return it (in the end). But Orange won't know why it's come back and they'll add time before its sorted out and until it is you can't upgrade again.

Take it, call them and tell them you don't like/want it. They'll give you a returns number and send you a post bag to send it back which will give you an audit trail for it.
Jon has returns changed via EE ? my upgrade was sent registered post to Logistics in Banbury & Orange said they credit my bill with the postage fee, no bag returns anymore I was told.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

  • For what it's worth, I thought I would share my/my wifes upgrade offers for reference. We made one call this morning (Friday) in the last couple of weeks of our old 24 month contract. Previously, we were both on Dolphin15 (old version) with 100 mins/300 SMS, at £15/m. I use average 100SMS/45min, with occasional incoming calls...like maybe 10mins/week. My wife is deaf, so uses about 300SMS, no calls, and never receives calls. Offers were:

For me, 200 mins, unlimited SMS, 500Mb data, 30 picture messages. £15.32/month, with Desire HD for £50 on top.

For wife, 50mins, unlimited SMS, 250Mb data, 5 picture messages, free home broadband (carried over from previous contract), £13.79/m with free HTC Wildfire.

Reckon we could have done better for her, but when you consider the £7.50/m saving on equivalent broadband package, still a bargain, and most importantly we are both happy...I really didn't expect to get that deal with a Desire HD :j

Just called up and been offered (I think the lady said it was in the upgrade department):

    Dolphin 30
    300 minutes + 300 loyalty minutes
    "Unlimited" (3000) texts
    500MB Internet
    Push email
    HTC Desire HD

...for £22.98 per month on a 24-month contract.

Not convinced that's a particularly good deal. What do you think?

Is there a landline/0800 number I can call for Orange Retentions (rather than upgrades)? Didn't hear any "if you are thinking of leaving Orange" option when I phoned 0800 0797777.

dial 150 from your mobile.. Option 4 is for upgrades and in it Option 2 for retentions. U should get a better deal from retentions!

Thanks, unfortunately I haven't got the mobile with me at the moment, so I have to phone from a landline. Is there an equivalent landline number for 150?
