I called Orange on Monday - asked to go on PAYG as my contract ended and I wasn't using up what I had and been paying £35 (Dolphin 30 + data)!!!

I was offered SIM only contract, one month's notice at any time (30-die tie-in) with the following:
    100 min
    Unlimited texts

Asked how much would be data costs with this, as I do connect to internet sometimes, and the guy said - oh, I'll just add tht on for you for free.

So, for £5.11 I now will have:
    100 min
    Unlimited texts
    500MB

I wasn't going for a new phone, as I am considering an iPhone, and was going to wait until summer to see iPhone 5. I am very happy to save £30 a month!!!! Maybe I can get the micro Sim for iPhone and keep this deal if I finally decide to go for one.

Brilliant Deal! Go for it! If you need more mins, you can always ask to increase the mins and pay maybe £5 more or something!

I agreed to it there and then - I haven't been using my minutes much as it is usually just to call OH to complain how bored I am at work during the day!

  • Just returned my omnia 7 after having it for one day. Lets just say windows mobile has changed for me for the worse. There marketplace is in its infancy and the zune software is limiting its like apples' itunes (Liked the old drag and drop like a portable device).

They should get the phone tomorrow. Anyone know from experience how long until I can take so I can upgrade (again)?

Banbury has lots going in every day, They all have to be scanned in and checked. I'd have thought a week would see the system updated to show it back and that you can upgrade again.

I hit my minimum 18 months on March 26 so decided to see what Orange could offer in the way of an upgrade.
    Can anyone beat this deal:

    Free HTC Desire
    800 mins
    300 texts
    500mb internet
    unlimited landline

18 months for 30.56 per month(my current average being about £31 per month)

    ...FOR CRAPNESS!!!!

I could not believe my ears at how rubbish this deal was.
I'm going to give them one more chance when I get in to my last 30 days. I don't think I am being unrealistic at expecting less than 20 quid a month as so many in this thread have reported getting for similar packages.

Called them back yesterday as decided to accept the £16.31 deal. Turns out they got it wrong. It's actually £15.31 a month and managed to get a free 16gb memory card included free too.

Pretty happy. Just hope the migration from the iPhone is ok for me. If not I'll flog the phone on eBay and have effectively two years free contract and stick with my current iPhone.

    Just been offered the following options. First call to retentions with my contract ending today;

    HTC Desire HD
    600 mins
    unlimited texts
    500mb internet
    5 photo messages

    24 months
    £16.31 per month
    free phone

    18 months
    £21 per month
    £43 for the phone

The 24 month deal seems good, but it's 24 months! He didn't seem to want to budge on the 18 month prices though.

    Any thoughts?

You will never get a good deal without asking for your PAC code. I don't speak to upgrade depts any more, just go straight to retentions.

Go directly to retentions. You are bound to get a better deal there!

Thanks for that, my 12 month contract with Orange via phones4u cashback, runs out on the 16th March. Should I ask for PAC now, if I do will I still be charged for the last month? What number are retentions on?

Call after 16th Feb. see what deal they are giving, if u dont like it ask for PAC . U still have to pay for the last month of your contract. Once u get PAC there is a number along with it which would be your last option.
Retentions are on 150 only . Option 4 is for upgrades and in that 2 is for retentions 'thinking of leaving orange'
