  • You should be able to get a desire in this rental!

How do I convince the sales team to give me a Desire?????
2011 Wins - Dave Gorman Tickets :j Sony Bravia TV
  • I want to use my phone for GPS mapping when I go hillwalking. The Wildfire has better battery life than the Desire, however, the Wildfire's screen resolution is poorer than the Desire.

Anyone used a Smartphone for GPS mapping, if so which one and was it any good???

depends on your convincing power and what you pay currently. Have seen a number of people get a desire and desire hd on 15pm sometimes with a small amount towards the handset. Go through the forum, see some deals people have got and they try to bargain! Also go to Retentions and not upgrades. Retentions is the option 2 in upgrades and is called Thinking of Leaving Orange.
  • Maybe if you got on a 24 month. Desire should be ok for one day of heavy use? If not maybe you could just buy an extra battery to take with you (The wildfire. Desire just seems like a better phone and the processors like double that of the wildfire. In use that'll make a noticeable difference. But saying that I have heard from a family member who has a desire that the battery life is rubbish (But aren't a lot of new smartphones).

Curious to hear what people think of my offer from Orange:

My current deal is 100mins, unlimted texts £10/month on sim only.

My 18 months contract is up in May and I've been offered an HTC Wildfire(free), 400mins cross network, 300 texts, 500mb data, umlimited online calls for £15.32/month.

    How does this sound???

I have just been offered 800 mins 1300 texts unlimited landline with internet with HTC wildfire black for 12.77 a month ( 24 months)

    Is this any good?

I think you should be getting a HTC desire or HD in this.
  • Hi,

Been following the forum recently and thought I'd share my (ongoing) experience with Orange retentions.

I have just over 5 weeks of my current 24 month contract left. I phoned up retentions on Friday and told them I was thinking about leaving, and was offered an HTC Desire HD with 600 mins on another 24 month contract for £25 p/m. Not great compared with some of the offers I've seen here.

So I phoned up again today to see if they'd offer me something better. When I told the guy I'd like a Desire HD, he said it's "impossible" to get it for less than £30-£35 p/m... I pointed out that you can get them online for £25 p/m and was told "er yeah, but 3rd party sellers have their own system and can offer free gifts etc", which if anything I would have thought would mean that buying direct from Orange would be cheaper, what with no free gifts?! But anyway, I'd already been offered £25 p/m from his colleague 3 days before. When I pointed this out I was told "there's no record of you even calling us then on the system". Getting pretty annoyed by now, since I had called them AND they'd called me back after I got cut off due to poor Orange reception in my area, so there must have been some record of at least one phone call... After a lot of umming and aahing he said oh yes I was right and he could in fact do it for £25 p/m.

Still not any better though... Am I right in thinking I'd get a better offer if I try again next week, when I'll be in my last 30 days?

Not happy with retentions at all though... it's blatantly dishonest to tell someone it's "impossible" to go below £30 p/m (coincidentally what I'm currently paying!) when it's simply not, and a quick look online or phone call to the same number will tell you otherwise. He was basically bluffing me because he thought I didn't know any better. And when I pointed out that it's a £120 difference over 2 years, he implied that I shouldn't really be complaining as £30 p/m is a great deal anyway for a phone which costs Orange over £500 to provide me with. That's not true either is it, or am I just being too cynical?!

    Anyway, rant over! :j

Try again in the last month. 25pcm is a good deal though. Yes people have got better deals.. But again based on experiences of people shared in the forum, high paying customers tend not to get better deals :(
