They won't/can't do anything until you return the phone. The system won't let them give another upgrade offer as, as far as it's concerned, you've got 18/24 months left on your new contract.

Once you've returned the phone the system is updated and the upgrade window opens again...

OK, thanks. That makes perfect sense now I think about it. Even though I got a decent enough deal, I was so surprised by how easily they gave me a better offer than the one I'd seen elsewhere that I accepted it straight away.

Sick of paying nearly £40 a month for a "£20 a month" contract (and never getting a satisfactory answer from Orange as to just how it managed to be double every month) my contract is finallly up. I probably should've jumped ship, but I've just managed to get:

    24 months, at £15.32 pm
    100 mins
    Unlimited texts
    250MB
    30 picture messages
    Free HTC Desire

But having read some of the other deals people have managed to clinch, I'm not sure I've done so well? Admittedly I rarely go over more than 50-60 minutes a month but maybe I should've pushed for more minutes anyway, or more data. Not happy about it being 24 months either. Hmm. Bit late now I suppose!

    Hey guys,

I rang today with 16 days left of official contract (I still need to give in my notice though) and they offered me:

    200 mins (dolphin 25 = 100 *2, think this is loyalty mins)
    unlimited texts
    500mb internet

15 pounds per month, HTC Desire HD phone for free. 18 months - 270 pounds total.

It seems very good to me, but I don't really know much about these things. Can anyone tell me if I should haggle more, I tried but he said it was the best I'll get.

It was my first phone call and I haven't even requested a PAC... not sure whether to risk trying to get a better deal by calling their bluff or just agree it. I told them I would consider it and get back to them later today (to either request PAC or agree).

    Any ideas?

I think that this is a very good deal as well. They were asking me for £100 if I wanted the HD over the standard Desire. Nice work.
  • Hey

Just got off the phone with what I think is a great deal. First phone call and barely pushed to get a good deal.

    Samsung Omnia 7 - 60 quid
    200 Mins
    Unlimited texts
    Internet 500mb
    £12.70 PCM
Also note I upgraded 3 months early and payed £22 PCM so will save 30 quid on that.

However I was on a 24 month tariff with them before used very little ( possibly less than or around 100 mins) from 500/600 mins so they probably made alot from me. From my calculations if I factor in £250 for the phone I pay only 4 quid a month.

Good deal though you should be easily able to get more mins in the same line rental!

I did ask for more mins but the guy was like you barely use your minutes anyway which was a fair point and that he couldn't . I was considering buying the phone off ebay ( costs like £250+) and getting a sim only plan. However this works out to be cheaper.

  • Curious to hear what people think of my offer from Orange:

My current deal is 100mins, unlimted texts £10/month on sim only.

My 18 months contract is up in May and I've been offered an HTC Wildfire(free), 400mins cross network, 300 texts, 500mb data, umlimited online calls for £15.32/month.

    How does this sound???
