If you accept a deal with retentions, does the phone get delivered the next day and do you get to choose a morning or afternoon delivery?

Also the Orange shop told me that I should go to them when I upgrade as they offer better deals than retentions. All I was offered was 10% off my line rental and I would loose my loyalty minutes of 400 a month. Not good is it.

yes to next day thats what I have done they wont give me a time but will text in the morning with an estimate of arrival

I have always gone through retentions and kept everything including all the loyalty minutes and discounts and usually gained more as well. I go to the shops to choose a phone then go direct.
  • Does anyone else find it off putting contacting these people?

I called today to see what I could get and I mentioned to him that although I pay £15 a month, there have been a number of times when I have paid more and gone over. I should get some sort of discount (especially as when I got the contract I ordered a rubbish phone which I sold).

Anyway, they have everything written on their system as later on he made the point of saying "let me see if anything has changed since the last TWO times you called" - 2 meaning probably last week and early January or perhaps December.

He said that it's not only about how many calls you make, it's about what your receve as incoming calls too - if someone from o2 calls you then that works out good for us as we get the money for it - I was like, well I do get people calling me more from other networks than Orange, and I only use magic numbers so I don't cost Orange a lot when it comes to outgoing and when I do I pay extra - he was being really rude when explaining and not letting me talk, saying that well you're costing us a lot (how is that so? thought it costs them hardly anything when calling the same network - magic number).

I think these people read these forums and decide they don't want to show any leeway, unless you get someone really nice. I am not going to call them unless someone wants to do so for me, because I'm ordering a contract elsewhere, not with Orange.

    Just accepted,
    HTC Desire HD - £34.99
    200 mins
    100 txts
    500mb data
    free landlines
    18 month
    20.40

and the wife is paying the 34.99 for my birthday so overall very pleased with that.

I thnk they could easily make that 400mins.. remember retentions double the mins on any standard package without much fuss!
  • I received my PAC code today and called the number on the letter.

The lady told me the cheapest for the Desire HD would be £29 and I would pay £49 for the phone, 24 month contractm would get 700 minutes etc.

I don't even use minutes so it s a rubbish deal especially looking for the price. She did try to look but even the Desire was a bad price - £20 and £50 for the phone for 24 months.

I have ordered a contract on o2 anyway. I will port my number over to that or giffgaff. When should I do it? A week before my pac code expires? I want to make use of the last month of ths contract so don't want to do it too early.

I spoke to retentions yesterday. I asked for the htc desire and said I wanted an 18 month contract. She said the phone would cost me £120 plus 200 minutes. She didn't even tell me the rest. Sometimes they are not very helpful, are they. Why is it so hard to get a contract on 18 months? I am quite happy to pay towards the handset, but £120 plus 200 minutes a month is a joke.

Im on dolphin 30, when I upgraded last time, mt minutes were doubled, so had 400 and was given extra 400, plus £5 a month off my line rental, making it £25 a month for 800 mins. Every month I go over my bill as I do not have landline and 0845 numbers cost a bit.

I have just over 2 months left with them. I might just pay my line rental up front and go else where as whats the point in phoning them.

Im glad a lot of you have managed to get decent deals.

Try again in last month. Deals tend to get better then!

Just wanted to add to this thread as I have used the information on it to secure my new deal. I called Orange yesterday morning (I called on a Friday thinking that the person I spoke to might be in a better mood as it was Friday and that might get me a better deal) for my PAC code and told them that I had been offered a better deal elsewhere. I merely quoted someone else's deal on this thread. I have managed to get; HTC Desire, 400mins, unlimited texts, 500Mb internet for a one off £10.99 and then £15.33 per month. This figure is apparently, the normal monthly charge of £25, minus a £10 per month loyalty bonus, plus VAT. I'm quite happy with that.
  • Can you tell us what you used to pay per month and whether you used to go over or you get a lot of incoming calls?

According to Orange - they don't make much out of me because I pay £15 a month and don't go over - although I have in the past - but also I used magic numbers, and I probably don't get enough calls from other networks to be able to help my account sort a better deal. I've moved networks now anyway once this contract is over.

Is it worth me calling yet? I have 6 months to run on an 18 months contract with an upgrade date of April.

I currently pay £15 per month for
    200 mins
    u/l texts
    80MB data

Ideally I would like a Samsung Galaxy S and an increase in data to 500MB.

    Thanks
