Orange Retention Offers

So what do you recommend to do?
As in, I am with Orange and I am okay with them but soon will no longer need to stay with them for Magic Numbers. This is why I was considering giffgaff, but the downside is that you don't get a phone.
Should I call the day before the last month commences and tell them I want to leave, and get my pac code? Then ring during that last month? I want to make sure I follow the right steps so I don't end up being charged for the month after the contract.
Ring retentions and tell them you intend to leave as you are getting better deals outside. Then see what they have to offer! If the deals you get offered in last month dont entice you, ask for your PAC code. When you get your PAC code, you get a letter with a number. That would be your last option0 -

No, No, No and NO.
Take it out and register it. If you leave it in the box the person you sell the phone to maybe able to register it an use it (and then your sim will stop and you'll get the bill for their usage).
Never, ever let anyone have a contract sim. That's like giving them a blank cheque.0 -
