thx. i'm not great at bargaining but got this straight off. lady said i have lot of loyalty - currently paying £30pm and am in last month, 23 days to go.also have home bb and payg sims with them. to be honest, lady was nice but of no help at all helping me choose phone. if i push for a good phone without further rental reduction and without have to pay more for it, which would you suggest please? i would then sell it to finance rental. what do you think might be the best ones to ask for? if i can't get a decent phone i'll push for rental reduction. have just got a san francisco so the phone is really a bargaining tool!
thx for your reply so farhappy new year !
If you are paying 30£ pm u should easily get a desire HD for free. these sell for around 350-370 on ebay and land u with around 340 in ur bank account. I pay 10£ pm and got a new contract of same amount as I mentioned and 155.99 for phone. I sold the phone and my 18 mth contract cost me an unbelievable £1.36. So push for a good phone without paying anything. If they can give me one for 155 when i pay 10pm, thy shd give u one for free.. If they dont agree, then ask for rental reduction to atleast 10pm and go for galaxy s or desire (not hd) which would still sell for around 200 and make ur contract free..

Additionally if u want a nice phone, be prepared to pay for it depending on your current bills. My current contract is 10£ pm and I never go above that. I got a HTC desire HD for 155.99 and new contract with same deal as urs but for 10£pm plus 500MB Internet and 15mms. It all depends on your bargaining skills and the person you get on the other end.
Also usually you get much better deals when in last month of contract. Atleast for me that was the caseHappy New Year 2011!
Do you remember the run down of your phone conversation and what srts f lines made you get the deal you got?Debt free

I have had multiple conversations with them. Started when 90 days were left and finally got the deal when 30 days were left. Conversations have varied and frankly though I can recall but wont put down here. It would take too much time
Just remember the key is patience and persistence.

My contract ends in April but checked my account online and it said I can upgrade on January 8th. Not sure what to do. My line rental is about £25 a month plus insurance.
I really want an IPhone or HTC Desire. Should I call them on the 8th or should I wait a while? Also would I be entitled to a reduced line rental for being with Orange for so many years?
I was considering leaving Orange and going to Three for the Iphone ( £30 a month ) although that is a bit too high for me.
Also if I did upgrade with Orange, would it be possible to get a new number for the phone and transfer my current number to a pay as you go, which my son would be able to use?
Many thanks in advance.0 -

You dont really get any deals on iphone as the prices are strictly guarded. All you might get is a little discount on the handset cost.
If you try for the desire or desire HD, you should get a good line rental discount on that and the handset at a very very cheap price if not free. Check the forum -- i would say last 20 pages and there are a number of good upgrade deals which MSE members have availed and advised about.
And I dont think you would be able to change ur number on upgrade. Best is to get your son a new PAYG or Pay Monthly sim only which in orange are like 15-20 pm and give loads of minutes/texts free. If you are looking for good internet for him, go to tmobile who give 1gb internet in their cheapest tariff of 10pm on pay monthly sim only..0 -
