Orange Retention Offers

I have often wondered, does receiving lots of cross network calls make you more profitable to a network ? If you make lots cross network calls does that devalue your upgrade amount ?0

I am within 30 days of the end of my contract, I called a few days ago and asked what deals they could do, I particularly wanted the Desire HD.
I currently have 200 mins, unlimited text and no data, this is on Dolphin and I pay £20 per month.
I was offered a Desire HD, 600 Mins, Unlimited texts and "Unlimited" (500Mb) data. They want £60 for the phone and £22.50 per month.
My bills are usually around £25, but have been higher for the last couple of months as I was abroad in Sept and have increased my data useage in Nov/Dec.
I feel quite happy with that, should I push for more? Perhaps the phone for free?0 -

As far as I know a computer system works out your eligibility. My theory is that the likelihood of you getting an expensive handset is partially determined by how likely you are in which to 'overspend' your current line rental. So for example if your monthly line rental is £15 and you spend say £18 every month instead, this 'boosts' your 'loyalty' with Orange. So in effect Orange expects you to overspend in future so is more likely to take a gamble on you by offering a more expensive handset, expecting to recoup the costs somehow.
Obviously this is just one of the key factors from my own experiences, as an Orange user with quite an erratic spending pattern.
Other factors that Orange have told me which affects your loyalty are;
1. Using too many Magic Number minutes (as according to Orange, the network still has to pay for it)
2. Speaking to Orange sales/ upgrade too often (as it means time 'wasted', that could be spent on other customers, which is ridiculous in my opinion)
3. Missed/ late bill payments etc.
I'd take the last three points with a pinch of salt though, as those Orange sales people can be very shifty ¬ ¬
Thats brilliant, thank yougreenstick wrote: »I am within 30 days of the end of my contract, I called a few days ago and asked what deals they could do, I particularly wanted the Desire HD.

Yes, it is 24 Months
I've found that the T-Mobile deal I saw that was close should pay £50 quidco and gives 1Gb data so going to use that as leverage.0 -

Every little helps with these phones as they constantly have the internet on. Im sure Orange should match, they are almost one and the same now!0 -
I was unable to raise the internet bundle from 500Mb, but did manage to get Unlimited emails thrown in (which I think is just a push email client) and the phone reduced to £41.
He did say that the original guy I spoke to had only used 94% of available loyalty discount, he played around with a few things and got it to 99%.
May have been sales bull, but he sounded genuine enough and I'm happy.
Phone arrives tomorrow :T0 -
Just been offered Desire HD on an 18 month contract for £15 per month plus £92.99 upfront
400 mins/800 texts/unlimited landline/500Mb data
That make it £363 over the course of the contract which sounds very good (much cheaper than buying the phone SIM free). Not sure if I'm missing the catch somewhere?0 -
Am guessing the answer is no but ......... has anyone tried using the current quidco/vodafone £120 cashback as leverage with Orange retentions to get a similar deal. Hubbies contract has been up for a few months and he is keen to get an iphone and would prefer not to have the hassle of switching providers but it is worth it for £120!
I am aware that generally there is no flexibility on iPhones but with the recent wave of cashback offers I wonder if things are changing.
Anyone?0 -
I tried when the Quidco cashback amounts were lower and I failed. Everyone, every forum and every thread I've spoken too/seen/read has the same answer. Basically if you want to try get an iphone from Orange during renewals time or via retentions with any kind of discount or heaven forbid for free their is only one answer. No.
It seems to be a case of if you want an iphone you pay through the nose for it one way or the other.
Only thing to be aware of if you change networks is that most new contracts now are for 2 years.
I have 2 iplans, they may not work for everyone as their is a certain degree of luck needed.
iplan 1 = Buy a lottery ticket, cross fingers - it could be you! Buy iphone with the winnings (if over £500).
iplan 2 = Buy a new 11 reg number plate that makes/is close to making a word or name and sell it for a profit. The prices people will pay for some of these new number plates are just plain crazy, more than enough to find an iphone many times over.
For example MU11 LET is going for £9,995. WE11 DON is for sale at £14,995. Both cost £399 to buy from DVLA. Wish I'd bought one of those! Could have then bought an iphone and an ipad.0 -
Hiya
Hope someone can help me. I'm into the last 3 months of my Orange contract. I own an iPhone (I bought it outright from Apple) and currently Orange give me 200 mins, unlimited texts and 500MB Internet for £15 a month, and it was an 18th month contract.
My contract includes a £5 loyalty discount which comes off every month.
I hate ringing the call centres, but I want to basically renew exactly what I have now for the same price, but hopefully get a 'free' phone to sell for a bit of cash. I can upgrade on my account online, it says renew my Dolphin 15 - 18 month contract, get the 10% line rental loyalty discount they do, and a free Blackberry Curve.
My question is if I do this does my current £5 loyalty discount continue to come off my bill or would that stop so I'd actually end up paying more?
I'll ring the call centre if this would end, it's just I hate ringing up call centres and would just prefer to do this simply and quickly online. Thanks for any advice0
