A number of packages offer 1200 minutes, then negotiate some loyalty minutes on top, you should be able to get an extra 1000 easily
  • I got 1400 min 300 txt landline 500mb htc desire for £60 18 months £27.50. if you do total it will be 720 similar to 24m contract on £30 tariif. lucky if iam on extra min.. cheers guys
  • I had three months left on my contract, so I suppose Orange maybe thought they didn't have to haggle too bad to keep me, but was disappointed with their lack of effort.

Phoned upgrades first of all, tried to see if I could get a better deal than on their website, but was advised to wait until October when Orange are apparently changing their upgrade terms and there might be some better deals going(don't think this is an official Orange line, just think the call centre worker I spoke to was giving decent advice)

Been waiting all summer to upgrade though, so phoned retentions. Asked how much it would be to buy out my contract, and was told it was a pretty cheap £31.

They asked why I was leaving, and I read out a deal with 02, and said that was who I was going for. The 02 deal included a cashback offer so the guy warned about that, said to make sure I send the bills on time, but other than that he was happy to cancel the contract. I held off a little by asking just for my PAC code to be sent to me, but came off the phone a little underwelmed, really expected they'd try and at least match the 02 deal (which wasn't particular that impressive - was simply working out after cashback as samsung galaxy s, free of charge, 300 mins, unlimited texts, 500mb internet, for £25 a month. If Orange had offered me that there and then I would have signed up).

Should I have done something different - or do you think they were just testing to see how serious I actually was about leaving?

You get far better offers when you're out of your minimum term. That's just the way the system works. They make money off people that want the newest handsets and want them Now !
  • Hi there,

Am itching for a new phone, hopefully Galaxy S or HTC Desire, have 2 months left on my contract to run, when 's the best time to call and get a good deal on these phones?

    See the post above yours.

    When you're out of contract.
Also, HTC are announcing at least 2 new handsets tomorrow (One is expected to be the Desire HD, which should mean the old Desire will fall in price). The new models are expected to be available in Oct.

    Hi,

I just upgraded to a Galaxy S today with orange and it has been dispatched already.

I got 200 mins, unlimited txts and unlimited internet for £20 on an 18 month contract with a one of charge of £99 for the handset. I wasnt thrilled about paying for the phone but they wouldnt budge on that

I was paying £30 a month before for 400 mins i think and unlimited txts, plus £5 for unlimited internet.

    hths, MBM
