My contract has expired, I've been with Orange for quite a few years and I'm pleased they offer me a better deal each time, not sure how they will beat this one in 24 months, give the phone for free I can hope.0 -

they seem to have the worst tariffs for it but i cant afford an unlocked one right nowWhat goes around-comes around0 -

Ended up phoning Orange on Wednesday night and talking for both me and my wife (same contract each). I initially wanted an HTC Wildfire (Cheaper smart phone but still very good, no wait like the Desire either), but Orange do not do that at the moment. Did some research and saw the Samsung Galaxy Apollo. I went for it - got given 400 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited landline calls (01,02,03) unilmited internet (actually 500mb a month, so no Youtube for me) for £15 a month. I was tired and had had a long day at work, so did not really quibble that much - I knew what I wanted and was fine paying £15 a month with no other costs. My wife got a Nokia (something - not sure what, but NOT a smart phone) on the same plan without the internet for £12.50 a month. Both 24 month contracts.
All in all, I am satisfied enough - was looking at various websites (Buymobilephones.net being the primary one) and saw that could get a phone after cashback and Quidco, for the wife on 300 mins, 300 texts and free calls to other T-mobile customers for a total cost of £6.97 a month for 24 months - with a standard Nokia. Also saw that I could get an HTC Wildfire on same deal, without the free T mobile calling but with unlimited internet for £11.67 a month over 24 months.
BUT - call quality on T-Mobile where I am?? Bad. Also, what happens if Buymobilephones.net goes bust? Yeppers. I chickened out.
All in all, quite happy with what I have, but get the distinct feeling that if we were both willing to pay £20 a month, the world would have been our Oyster with regards to minutes, texts, data, and choice of phones....but life is too short, and a saving of £5 (and £7.50 respectivley) over a 24 month period is £300 smackeroonies - I can get us 14 days in Spain for that, and I guess a nice holiday is where our priorities lay!
Anyway, sry for the ramble, and certainly don't mean to have a go at anyone choosing a whizzbang phone (I am somewhat jealous!!!!).
Best of luck to everyone!
Might try for this tonight. Currently out of contract as of this month and on a £10 per month deal with free landline, but pultry 100 mins and 100 texts. No internet.
If I can get the apollo with at least a doubling of call time/texts, retain landline calls and add internet, I'll go for it.
Will ask for PAC code first stating I don't like 24 month deals and just going to get a android on payg with three (ZTE Racer on Three). Hopefully I will get offered a decent deal on the apollo. reguarly go over allowances so hopefully will be viewed as a customer to keep!
What do you make of the Apollo Jobe?
I've got a Desire on TM, but this will be for the missus.
I've heard to conflicting reports about the battery life. Looks good though.0 -
has anyone managed to get a HTC Desire recently from Orange
Why does everyone want a desire?
I've heard that they drop their internet signal all the time and that you cant get back on for hours sometimes. I know of 2 people who have had to have replacement handsets and even retentions told me to avoid the Desire. Some days you're the bird......and some days you're the statue :cool:0 -
has anyone managed to get a HTC Desire recently from Orange
I was offered a Desire at the end of June. They never had any in stock and told me I would get a text when it was. I waited six weeks and heard nothing. Finally got the chance to chase them up at the weekend and was told they initially missed me off the back order list. They have now put me on it and advised they are expecting some stock this week. I won't be holding my breath.0 -
Just wondered last time anyone managed to get a Desire through upgrades/retentions?0
