While there's no excuse you have to realise they must have been having a nightmare in that dept with the i4. I wouldn't want to be working there at the moment (and on a 12 hour shift!). You get all kinds of moron calling in saying all kinds of rubbish thinking they get a one for free on a £20 a month plan.

Like I said, not an excuse. . .

and people actually do that, are they incredibly stupid

    .....................................................

Well like you say you would like them to match the deal, which they cant so its not worth asking.

You have to realise they work in a call centre in a department where you get call after call full of people like this:
    1. People who want a deal which cant be done, but stay on the phone for ages, wasting time, basically frustrating the advisor.
    2. Complaints, personal abuse to the advisor
    3. People who are generally rude themselves, which is very often.

So he was rude, who cares, in my experience with Talk Talk for my landline, Sky for my tele, The Council tax, and Vodafone, Orange, o2 and T-Mobile, Ive spoke to loads of people with bad attitudes, but dont take it personally, theyre usually for the reasons listed above, if they were rude all the time, they wouldnt work there as they would be sacked.

Should you not have orange representative against your name - I thought this was siupposed to be stated on this site.
The customer service people I have spoken to lately have had the attitude as described above. I dont know if this is deliberate and comes from the top but it appears that these cs operatives could not give a damn about orange customers leaving and going to their competitors.

I dont work for the company. I just know how it all works.

When an advisor gives the impression they dont care if you leave or not, its generally as the customer is a low spender, so its not worth the hassle of making an offer, and then the customer negotiating the impossible. They get bonus so they would rather give your notice to leave, or give you the PAC, and get on with the next call. :D

In 5 years with Orange, I have had nice retention people EXCEPT one male who had the attitude that he thought he was the CEO and why was I bothering him with pricing from other networks when "Orange is superior network" (?) to which I replied "shame about the staff plans then, eh ? is yours in the drawer like the rest of the employees" that shut him up, he asked did I want my PAC, was I sure & I told him I will call back and speak to someone with manners who understands customer care & hung up, its the only way tp deal with these type of people - politely impower yourself....I called back & lodged a complaint THEN called retentions back.
If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
    If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:
    :D

Look I worked for Barclaycard for 3 years in their call centre and trust me I had my fair share of rude customers. I never 'asked' for him to match the deal, I said I was leaving Orange as there were better deals elsewhere, to which he said 'there isn't'.
At least when I worked for Barclaycard I was well informed on all the products and we had to LEARN what competitors were offering and were told arguments against them. It would be nice if Orange did the same instead of implying that their customers are lying.

So he had a bad day, diddums. If he can't be civil and courteous to his customers when he's having a bad day then he is most certainly in the wrong job!

Trust me, you wouldn't believe some of the call the front line get.

I had one caller who I just couldn't find on the system, I apologised that I couldn't find his Orange acc and he says 'I'm not on Orange I'm with Vodafone."

So I tell him he's talking to Orange and he's says

"Yeah, I know, but if I call Voda they charge me, it's free to call you."

After I told him I couldn't help him he call me an unhelpful ^%^& and puts the phone down. . .

Orange - I am out of contract and they have offered me an Iphone 4 upgrade with 10% off my line rental.

    Anyone got better than that?

Been with them 5 years and they are wiping out 40% off loyalty bonus line rental ..but hey they are giving me 10% back!

I was thinking I could do a free upgrade to the most recent NOkia or Samsung? Sell the phone and put that towards a sim free Iphone4? - then i could keep my current deal of 40% line renatl dsicount.... however I would need a micro sim from Orange... ive read somewhere they dont supply micro sims unless you buy the iphone from orange??
