No, upgrades doesnt work like that, either through upgrades, or retentions. Its a bit messed up but thats how the system works. The pricing is based on your previous spend and customer band. So a band 3 will pay £150 whether theyre on a £15 p/m tariff or £40 p/m.

It doesnt reflect the new customer prices, but the reason for this is: Orange doesnt make enough money off the customer, so really they dont want to give you the phone free either way, as they have previously made little on the account.

    Hope this helps.

    yes a little thanks,

Hi, there is no loyalty to be had on the iphone, other than 10% discount if you already have this on your account. Meaning if you have had this on your account for the past 18months, if you upgrade to the iphone it will remain on there.

They will not put it on if you dont have it.

If you have had it in the past, but no longer, then you again will not be eligible for the 10% discount.

If your unsure if you have it, ring 150 and speak to customer services, or check your bill. It shows as 10% loyalty line rental.

Magic Numbers stay on as normal.:)

  • Quick question for Mark22...

First, thanks for all your advice to me and in general regarding how Orange discounted packages. I assumed each customer was looked at as an individual which is probably where I went wrong. Anyway, I've agreed to the package they offered me, and they said the Desires were in stock and being tested on Friday.

Still no sign of them on the website, and no text or email from Orange. Any ideas? I really don't want to call again - I'm not in a desperate need for it, but it would be nice to know what's happening. Would prefer a "you're not going to get it for a month" to a "try again tomorrow"

    Percy,

You need to first of all make sure that you are on their 'backorder' list. If you are you'll get a text message as soon as there is adequate stock asking you to call up and complete your order.
HTC Desire was supposed to come in yesterday, if it did then it's around a day or two testing and then it goes on sale.

to be on the backorder list the rep should say sometihng like "i can add you to the priority list" adn you get sent a text which tells you you can call up and sort out the deal you want

Not a problem. They wouldnt usually update the website, and the text you would get would be if your on the backorder list, as mentioned above. To be on the back order list, the advisor has to offer you something, then save the deal as "considering" and then click the reason "phone out of stock" if they dont do this, you wouldnt get the text. The phone did get delivered last night, and should be available by the end of this week. Its been a nightmare, but finally should have some rolled out.

Hey people ive been following this thread for the past few weeks, did have a sony ericsson which i hated for 18 months paying 35 pounds 600 mins, unlimited texts

Rang 150 the other day and followed instructions which i went through to "if you are thinking of leaving orange..."i was wondering if this was retentions?

Spoke to some guy who offered me the Samsung tocco 400 mins 500 texts unlimited orange to orange calls for 19 pounds a month

    Is this good?

    Decent for the mins/text/price.

Slightly confused though, as we discontinued the Tocco some months back, and the Tocco ultra has followed suit and been discontinued.

Samsung now range with Orange the Samsung Wave, the Samsung Apollo, the B2100 (Builders, tradesmen type of phone, very robust) and the Samsung Monte, which is fairly similar to the Tocco.
