Orange Retention Offers

I looking at leaving Orange to move to the new iphone4 tariff on Vodafone. (contract with Orange finishes on saturda) If I ring up Orange and ask for my pac code how long do I have to use it?
If I don't then use it to transfer to Vodafone (I may have to wait a while to save up for the phone) does my current contract with Orange just continue as is?
I'm wanting to ask for it to plant the seed with Orange that I am leaving and see what they offer me. I know they can't change anything on the cost of the phone but may be able to knock a bit off the tariff prices?0 -

A pac lasts for 30 days then you have to get another one.
If you don't use it your contract just carries on. Asking for a pac isn't the same as asking to cancel your contract.
They will try to keep you, but they have limits based on your spend over the last 6 months. Low spend = low offer...0 -
Thanks Jon01. I was stuck on holiday last month (ash cloud) which meant my last bill was a whopper, (£170 compared to usual £30, ouch!)
So I'm hoping that is taken into account and averaged over the past 6 months rather than seeing it as a one off. Here's hoping anyway.!0 -
Just got off the phone to the RUDEST customer services operator at Orange. Rang to request my PAC code. (I am considering moving to the £35 vodafone contract iphone4, and I thought I'd test the water with them to see what they can offer)
He asked why, I said cos Voda are offering what I want cheaper: conversation then went like this
Orange: No they are not
Me: yes they are
Orange: So you're telling me that Voda are offering better tariffs than us, all the networks are offering the same tariff
Me: No they aren't, Voda are offering a £35 tariff with enough bells and whistles for me and the handset is £60 cheaper
Orange: I think you'll find it isn't. We are offering it for £119.
Me: yes, over 24 months, not 18 which is what I want. I'm not lying about this, your tone is terrible. I'm only asking for a PAC code. Trust me I've done lots of research on this.
Orange: Well I'm not lying either but as you have no reason to lie to us I will send you your PAC code. Be aware though you will be billed by us until that number is transfered
Me: Yes I'm aware of that. I would like to stay with Orange but there are simply better prices out there (hint, hint)
Orange: Well I'm sure that isn't the case but as I've said I have no reason to say you are lying. Your PAC code will arrrive shortly. Rememebr though, you will be billed by us until you transfer.
Me: Yes I know, bye!
How rude, honestly, it doesn't transcribe well here but he was so agressive. Deffo bye bye Orange now!..!0 -
While there's no excuse you have to realise they must have been having a nightmare in that dept with the i4. I wouldn't want to be working there at the moment (and on a 12 hour shift!). You get all kinds of moron calling in saying all kinds of rubbish thinking they get a one for free on a £20 a month plan.
Like I said, not an excuse. . .0 -
Yes i absolutely get it, but they are so ill informed. I wasn't expecting for a minute that they would budge on prices but you have to try don't you?
He was just speaking like I was some dizy blonde (which granted I am) who didn't know what she was talking about.
I do feel for them (i've had my fair share of call centre jobs) but he was so adamant that none of the other networks were beating Orange. Annoying!
i'm ringing back on saturday in the hope that they are a bit better informed then.
looking at the Tesco tariff rumours though looks like I'll be going with Tesco rather than Voda.0 -
its not an excuse jon is it- while i sympathise they might be more busy this week theres no need to be rude and state all tariffs are the same when theyre not
all they need is a sheet of paper in fromnt of them telling them all their competitors tariffs hoe hard can that be?What goes around-comes around0 -
I had a print out of the spreadsheet in front of me. I should've offered to send him the link too :rotfl:0

All staff have (or had) internet access, so they could take a look at Voda's pricing.
I suspect there's a new dictate in place stating how long they have to clear a call and they're feeling the pressure. These things are put in place but people who've never taken a call in their lives and have no idea what's involved. . .0 -
