No catch, I didn't take out insurance, much to the bemusement of the staff. I just carry on, the only thing they said could happen is in 3 months when my contract was due to end, Orange may call to sort a deal on the tariff. Having run Orange though, I'm now on the contract until 2011 and the £20 a month (£25 with net) rolls over each month.

Now to decide whether to add orange Care!
  • well, I'm obviously doing something wrong. the best Orange customer service would offer me is £100 for the phone, and a renewal of the rate I am currently on for another 18 months.

as far as I can tell, phones4u will give me a deal for Orange Dolphin 30 with a free phone and more minutes over 18 months, which works out cheaper.

when I rung Orange retentions to tell them this, they basically told me goodbye, and they still can't tell me when they'll have the phone in stock, even though I was advised earlier this week it will be today.

how are other people getting better deals and is anyone actually being told when this phone will be in? My whole family have been with Orange for years. Not much sign of loyalty rewarded as far as I can see. How bad can phones4u be?

You need to visit the stores, you can't do this over the phone or online. It needs to be face to face in store. Lay out the options, do the demanding. They want your custom. Just throw it at them and don't leave. I'm not always the best at that sort of thing, but I went in knowing my intentions and I left with the phone in my hands. Good luck!

Is the contract then with P4U or still with Orange
Can't understand how P4U can undercut Orange

They can undercut because the shave their dealer kickback in the price they offer you.

Seems I've being duped slightly by P4U. They said my contract will continue until September as it is then Orange would contact me to discuss loyalty discounts etc. When phoning Orange, there Delhi call centre told me I was fine and that I'd get my discounts until 2011.

However upon phoning Orange today and being put through to there North East center, they say my minutes and data will be removed and discounts in August and it'd up my tariff price. I can't take advantage either of there new tariffs either because they say it can't be accessed because a third party has authorised the contract and I can't even be lowered onto another tariff.

Slightly confused now, on to P4U customer services to try and find out what has happened. She's just told me Orange can access the system but they choose not too.

EDIT: Phones 4 U are sending me £130 cheque to cover additional costs for 9 months because I will loose my loyalty discounts. From what I can tell, from September I'll be on 400 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB data for £30 on an 18 month contract as opposed to having 600 minutes and unlimited texts for £20.
