As you seem to know what's going on, I guess that means that unless I reply immediately when I get my "back in stock" email that I won't get one of the next batch either? Is it any more likely that if I go through phones4u or carphone warehouse that I will get one that way, or is it best to wait for Orange as they can offer the best discount?
I'm not in any major rush for a new phone, but my current one is a pile of pants (won't name it but it's the 2nd one I've had since my contract started and now it's about to go). Finally made the decision to upgrade to a smartphone and now I can't get hold of one.
Well the Desire is worth waiting for believe me. Im currently a user of the BB 8900 Curve, which I thought was good, now I feel like Im using an old old Nokia. Ha! - I would never deal with P4U or CPW, or any 3rd party company for that matter, I hear way too many bad stories, and on personal dealings with them, dont like the attitude of the people who work for them. Orange will be able to give you a better deal than P4U and CPW usually, so try and get a feel of what you may be able to get. Ring them up now (open til 10pm) if you have time of course, and let me know what they offer you. Ask what band customer they have you at also please!
Also just on the note about ringing in quick when you get the email, I would ring in ASAP when you get the text or email.0 -
All they would say on the weekend is that on my current deal they would give me the phone for £99 instead of the advertised £149
But I'm currently on a very low pay monthly deal (more expensive deal massively discounted due to the ongoing hassle with my useless pile of pants phone) with no internet so I'd have to upgrade package anyway to include that.
On my way out now but will phone them again tomorrow to see what they say this time. Maybe if I am able to commit to it they will be able to reserve one for me, especially as I'm going to upgrade my package?
Thanks again for your advice, will keep you posted.0 -
Its not a scam. The phone is out of stock. Once it is in, its madness and its really busy for an hour or two, the phones gone again, usually for a week at least.
Please be patient and just keep checking. It wont be in stock til next week though, at the earliest. Also, even if the phone is out of stock, they can offer you a deal, but usually wont as they get bonus for sales / conversion of calls, so if its out of stock, they wouldnt usually bother, as the majority of time when they do, and agree a call back, the customer rings in and speaks to someone else due to impatience.
i was told earlier it might be this time next i could get a desire, if i phone up again say in a few days time could i get a different deal0 -
I was given a handset only upgrade at P4U, and was given a new 18 month contract on my current tarriff. I paid nothing for the phone and left with it the same day, the last one in stock.
Orange wanted £150 for the phone and would offer 300 minutes, unlimited texts and data for £25.0 -

Everytime you phone up you could get a different deal. If you have been offered something previous it is no way gauranteed, as Retentions are not a sales dept, as the deals they usually give are non profitable or very low profit.
Where did you hear it was earlier? Its coming in end of the week, available start of next week. You heard it here first.0 -

Thing is now though, any problems with the phone, you have to deal with P4U. Good luck with that! It wont have been the last one in stock either, they said that to you so there was no second thoughts. P4U and CPW etc are cowboys and the people who work them, that I have dealt with, have serious attitude problems.
Best of luck with it all, hope it goes smooth and enjoy the phone0 -
Cheers, well I never had an issue with them before. I would say the manager was a tad pushy with his 'No we can't do a deal that good', but he somehow got me a free Desire on Orange and then later on said that phone wasn't on the upgrades, which I'm sure he should have known. Best of all I refused insurance.0

P4U sales people are especially like shrewd hyenas who would sell their own mother for a sale0 -
Hi I have got a blackberry on Orange. I am pretty happy with it but want a new one as its looking a bit battered after a year:o
I currently pay £29 per month for 600 mins and 500 texts but don't use half of my mins:o, so I want a new blackberry with a lower tariff.......do you think this is reasonable?0
