You'll always get a better deal when you're out of contract. That's just the way the system works, so you won't know what their best offer is for (I guess) 3 months. . .
But you dont go out of contract do you? Unless you cancel they just roll it on at a price they decide. I have been on a deal with loyalty offer and now if I want to stay with them they have removed the loyalty discount making it more expensive than I can get with another company.

Your contract is for a minimum term not a maximum.

At the end of your 18/24 months is drops into a 30 day rolling contract under the same terms as the last 18/24 unless you either cancel or upgrade.
So you have nothing to worry about, they won't (can't) change the price on a whim...

I was told when I first rang rententions that once my contract finished the price would go up to what ever that package price was. So instead of paying £30 for panther 45 it would go up to £40 pm. He said the £30 is only good for the length of the contract. TBH I don't think he was interested in giving me a deal and could have been wrong about the £40. Didn't matter as I ended up with what I thought was a good deal a month later.

As a rule they don't credit check an upgrade. The only exception would be if you have a really bad payment history with them...

Thanks for your reply. As with the above poster I have been told by two of their agents that it will increase. Are you saying they are telling porkies?
My deal with them is good. I pay a fiver a month for 300 minutes and unlimited landline calls plus whatever texts. They have told me it will go up to twenty. If I change to O2 simplicity I get the same deal for a tenner with a five pound reduction on my broadband with them and 25 back with quidco.

Orange have just said I can remain on £20 a month but lower minutes to 300 and have Unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £20 a month over 24 months, but the handset will cost £100 minimum.

I walked out of Phones 4 U in the end with an upgrade on Orange. Still on my 600 minutes, unlim texts and 25MB net (I need to sort that out with Orange) at £20, but signed into a new 18 month contract, but best of all I got the Desire for free. The only downside was I had to make do with an Orange branded version which I was determined to avoid.

My contract has just ended and I am on Dolphin 25.I am trying to get an iphone 3gs 16GB from Orange.

Spoke to Customer Support: Said 24 month contract @ £35/month( reduced to £30 with loyalty discount ) + £89 for handset
Spoke to retentions later: Said best offer is 24 month contract £30 (no loyalty discount) + £89 for handset

Now I am wondering, these deals still seem quite expensive. Everyone is expecting a price reduction once the iphone 4g come into the market but will Orange peel itself and give their exisitng customers any decent deals on the old handest.

The iphone 4 prices are being released today.

Will be interesting to see how this effects 3GS prices
