The saga of the HTC phones! I got fed up of waiting for a Desire and asked Orange what they would offer me on an HTC Hero, just to see, and they offered the following:
800 mins, unlimited landline calls, 800 texts, 500mb data
£17.50 for 24 months OR £27.50 for 18 months
£15 for the phone
Of course, being an MSE'r, I said I wanted 18 months, but didn't need as many minutes, so they then said:
400mins, 1000 texts, 500mb data for £22.50 per month
£15 for the phone
Comments? I need collective wisdom! I am sure the Desire will be much more expensive than the one above, but oooooo it's sooo pretty!0 -
Contract has expired so phoned up today asking about the HTC Desire. Got offered...
24 months x £17.50
£80 Handset cost
300 minutes, unl text, unl data
Said I was after 18 month ideally:
18 months x £25 £80 Handset cost
600 minutes, unl text, unl data
The 18month deal is actually the same that I was offered a couple of years back when I got given an HTC Diamond for free, so seems a bit odd that nothing has improved in that time.
Opinions? Worth phoning back again later, claiming O2 will offer the 18 month with 400 minutes for £20pm and/or free handset, see if they budge at all? Did I just get a very good deal last time with free Diamond @ £25pm x 18 for 600m, unl texts/data?

The reason they keep running out of HTC Desires is because of the AMOLE screen. They are manufactured by Samsung and they cant keep up with demand and with their phones as well. This is one of the reasons why iphone doesnt have this screen0

Just phoned Orange retentions and they offered me this:
HTC Desire (free)
800 any network minutes
unlimited internet
unlimited texts
5 picture messages a month
insurance
bluetooth headset (Jabra 2080)
24 month contract @ £24.50 per month
Its not too bad I dont think, the only other thing I could have asked for was more picture messages and perhaps an 18 month contract, but its a good phone which should still be up there with the best of them for some time.
I was paying £41 a month on an 18 month contract (however I got this contract with £180 cashabck, so £31 a month really)
Whats your thoughts on this deal? Could I have done better? Its my first time upgrading and I did do some research, hopefully it has paid off!0 -

Panther 40 for £30 a month
1600 minutes (400 extra thrown in)
£49.99 for HTC Desire
all the other stuff with the plan
no 3g dongle, didn't want it (was £2.50 more p/m)
Happy with that, it's pretty much what I was asking for last time!!!
This is what I was offered 13 May. I decided 49.99 for the phone at £30 a month was cheaper than a FREE?? phone at £35 a month for 24 months (that makes the phone £120).0 -
I phoned Orange up today and was interested in the Desire.
I asked what was the best they could offer me and I was told
18months
600mins
unlimited texts
unlimited data
for £30 a month
I told them, I will have a look around and call them back later.
I called back within 30 mins to say I'll take it, as I didn't find anything better, but apparently that deal was no longer available and it was now a 24 month contract, so I just hung up and redialed and went for the disconnections department this time. Where I was offered a couple of deals but the one I took was -
Free Desire, 24 month
600mins, unlimited text/ data for £22.50 a month.
I thought it was pretty good, so am now waiting for my Desire to arrive tomorrow0 -
Just occured to me, but my upgrade can be from 12th June, but my contract doesn't end then. If they can't offer me a decent deal, will I then buy out the last few months of the contract so I can get my PAC and move to T-Mobile or Vodafone?0

You'll always get a better deal when you're out of contract. That's just the way the system works, so you won't know what their best offer is for (I guess) 3 months. . .0
