I've just been told by them that the 32gb iPhone 3GS is the same price as the 16gb ones now while it lasts!

Is retentions different from calling the Upgrade team?? I spoke to Upgrades yesterday about getting a Desire and was told I would have to pay £100 for the phone regardless of what contract I took out....not a happy bunny here.
Been comping for a while....still no luck though

    Very different.
Retentions is where you get to after you tell upgrades their offer isn't good enough. They have more options to give you a better deal.

But even they have limits, the system will only let them give you an offer based on your spend over the last 6 months. And the cost of the phone has to be covered over the length of the new contract. So if you're not spending a lot (or anything over your minimum) you won't get, say, a Desire for £10 a month for 18 months, it wouldn't pay for the phone.

But you should ALWAYS go to retentions, you'll 99% of the time get a better deal, its their job to keep you as a customer.

Orange shops have that offer at the moment. New contracts and upgrades, I believe, 32GB 3GS free on £45/mth plans, or £89 on a £35/mth plan.

    Same with me

Both upgrades AND Retentions offered me the same deal...I said just send me my PAC code.....she said what other network I was going to.....

I told her about the Virgin deal for existing media customers - where I can get the phone for free.... and she said sorry she can't do any better than what they offered me

I thought Retentions can offer better deals than upgrades - but yet I get offered the same???

I've been with them on a 2month contract (albeit a low one, but often went over my limit in first year).....I don't understand why both upgrades and retention are offering me the exact same deal?!
