    Hi there,

    I just rung Orange retentions,

I am currently on Dolphin 25 and pay £20 a month as I had a discount and thats for 100 minutes and unlimited texts.

Been offered Nokia 6700 (which is the phone I want), with 200 mins and unlimited texts and internet but have to pay £15 for the handset and this comes in at £15 a month.

I have asked to think about it today and will get back to them later because he bamboozled me a bit with lots of numbers.

I did ask about waiving the handset fee and he said to get the unlimited internet I have used up all of my budget so would have to pay the one off fee for the phone. I only use about 30 mins of my talk time each month and asked about lowering the minutes but if he done that then my monthly rental goes up?

    What do you reckon?

    Thanks Sam

That's a very good deal, its a package worth £30 as your getting the Dolphin 25 web, with unlimited internet (worth £10 p/m) so because your getting the deal at effectively half price, this will be why you can't get the upgrade fee of 15 wrote off, just pay it and be happy with the deal. You can't go wrong at 15. A month. Cheers.

Ok, its now 100% clear to me you think retentions can do anything to any account. If George can get that deal that doesn't mean Pete or Janine or Mr.X can, I can gaurantee you that if they were trying to charge 10pound, then they have no 'budget' remaining, if another agent got them a w995 free, they've went around building the deal a different way. Please don't attempt to argue, as you won't win because your incorrect. I know how retentions works, where as you think they will do anything, when they won't, remember, the agents are bonused and if they don't budge, they will let you leave. Loads more customers out there.

Not atall, I was merely proving the point that Latecomer didn't have to pay for the Nokia 5800, my point was proven by the fact that he got a more expensive phone for free.

I'm completely aware of how retentions worked, I've been an Orange customer for many years. However, they don't offer you everything they can at the start, if you push, you always get more, or at least I have.

Explain this workaround? They gave Latecomer amore expensive phone for free on exactly the same package... thats no workaround, you're just wroing and don't like it.

The workaround I'm talking about would be where they offer a different talkplan which can impact the budget less, and manipulate it to be a mirror package of the one that would cost the company more. This is how they got the phone free, I mean honestly, they were giving phones for free but going to charge a pointless £10 for the 5800, now think about it, why would they do that? To upgrade to it it would be £15, which they write off 99/100 if the budget allows, the agent gains no more or less if they charge £15 or 0. I assure you, I'm not wrong. I know how retentions works a lot more than yourself :)

It was exactly the same package... workaround or not...

Well if they manage to charge £10 to every customer, the point in doing that is obvious... MONEY!!!

Expaline how you know? This whole thread disagrees, as does my experience and the offer that latecomer ended up with....

This isn't about a knowledge comparison, fact of the matter is, latecoemr got a more expensive phone for free... I wish LUFC girl was here to clarify, as she works for orange.

Also, the 5800 is free on the orange website, not sure where you are getting £15 from.....

You don't get it. The majority of phones are charged at £15, other than basic phones, 2330 etc, and top range phones. The W995 isn't that much more expensive than the 5800, which points to what I said earlier, they've manipulated the package to impact the budget less so they can give a better range of phones, put it down to agent a being less experienced than agent b. If Lufc girl was here she would tell you verify the fact about the £15 fee's. Now they write that off, or don't. The only way they charge between free and 15 is if the budget is stretched. Understand? Probably not. Your obviously egotistical and can't stand the fact someone is challenging your, and I use the following very loosely, knowledge.

Sorry should have explained that we are being offered both phones one for me and one for my husband (low user).

We need the UAM function due to no signal in house.

Seems like a very good deal imo then :)
