Utter bolloks. If you get that phone then you'll lose the unlimited internet (not applicable for BB AFAIK), I'd tell them to wave the fee or you'll walk.

Also, £10 for the Nokia.. tell them you wont pay.

Wrong, they cant waive the fee for blackberry internet and if theyre giving all the other phones free, but charging a paltry £10 for the 5800, then its obvious as they are constrained

You could probably do that, you could also save £5 by removing the BB net package and then ypu just need unlimited web for the iPhone.

Sorry Daggy, wrong again, the package mentioned is a Panther package, and the blackberry internet is inclusive of the package, looking at the website, its obvious as it doesnt include unlimited landline (Racoon) or unlimited texts (Dolphin) so they wouldnt save the £5, and Blackberry internet is incompatible with iPhones.

Thanks guys. I am still on the drawing board as to what phone to get - the N97 mini is the perfect phone if only it worked and nothing else seems to offer the same supposed ability as an all rounder. Every year I have this problem - manufacturers faff about and produce endless phones. Yet almost every great phone has an area in which it fails miserably. You'd wonder why someone doesn't just make a phone that does everything well instead of worrying about making it the best in one area!

Motorola Dext has the same look and feel as the N97, but for reliability and all round features get the Nokia 6700, 5mp camera, decent battery, ok for internet, not the most eye catching but at least it works.

If it's on the same package, you should have went for the hero... had a go of one the other day and they are great... better IMO.... although camera isnt as good.

But yeah, you should have went for hero, then sold it and bought the 995as the hero is more expensive :P

    what deal did you get?

I had a look at some reviews for the Hero and they all seemed to say battery life is pretty poor which swung it for me. I dont like having to cart around a charger or usb lead everywhere I go :)

    the final deal was

    400 mins
    300 texts
    unlimited landlines
    unlimited internet
    SE W995

    18 month contract

    £15 per month

Which I'm happy with. New phone arrived at work today so I'll have a play when I get home.

    Unlimited Texts
    Unlimited Internet

£30 a month 18 Months. I already accepted, but you get 7 days to cancel it.

I got through to disconnections today and tried to get a better deal on it and the guy just said he'd put the upgrade cancellation through for me. Didn't offer me a thing, despite being an orange customer 3 years+

No, I'm not wrong. They can waive the fee for the internet and the phone. This is retentions we're talknig about, their very remit gives them flexibility (within reasons) with what they offer.

You seemed to hyave mised the boat...
The offer that was made available to them is this:
    400 mins
    300 texts
    unlimited landlines
    unlimited internet

    £15 per month.

However, if they had went for the Blackberry, the unlimited internet would have been no use to them, therefore they could simplu have asked to have BB internet in placeof the unlimited internet, effectively swapping them or waiving the fee so to speak

    No, once again, I'm not.
    Here is the original offer:

    BB Bold 9700 Free
    800mins
    300 text + 1000 free
    unlimted email and internet
    Orange Maps

If you check the orange website, you'll see that they don't currently offer an 800 minute package with 300 texts + 100 texts, plus orange maps and internet and definitely not for £20 p/m

The most likely candidate is the Panther 30 18 month, but heavily modified as a retentions offer...

Original offer is: Racoon 30 18 month £30 (£25 online)

    400 minutes
    300 texts
    unlimited push email
    free orange maps
    phone cost: £99

Retentions would have heavily modified this package to come to the deal that was quoted.
The best soloution to the problem would be to go on a dolphin package, then have the BB net added as an extra (£5 pm), therefore, when they buy the iPhone, they can remove this and add the standar internet,so they can use it on iPhone.
