LOL, Some people make me laugh.
Girl in my class comes in today, with a new iPhone 3gs..
Oh is it an upgrade?
Yeah i get 1200 min, ultd texts/ internet all for £27 per month..
Oh you with o2 refurbished?
Nope orange through cpw
Ahh cool ( in my head, SUREEEEE, I beleive you!)
I'ts not totally unfeasable, maybe the policy on the iPhone is changing? Also as it's through CPW...
does seem unlikely though :P0 -
HTC Hero
400 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Internet
£30 a month 18 Months. I already accepted, but you get 7 days to cancel it.
I got through to disconnections today and tried to get a better deal on it and the guy just said he'd put the upgrade cancellation through for me. Didn't offer me a thing, despite being an orange customer 3 years+
Once it's all sorted out you should be able to upgrade again...
if Orange retentions are being awkaward just ring someone like e2save or phoneboxmobiles and tell them that orange offered you x deal and aks them to match it....
so if you want it for £25 pm say orange offered that and you wanted to see if they could match or beat it.,0 -
I got 18 month contract with
200 minutes, Unlimited texts, 80mb of internet and Nokia 5800.0 -
No, I'm not wrong. They can waive the fee for the internet and the phone. This is retentions we're talknig about, their very remit gives them flexibility (within reasons) with what they offer.
You seemed to hyave mised the boat...
The offer that was made available to them is this:
400 mins
300 texts
unlimited landlines
unlimited internet
£15 per month.
However, if they had went for the Blackberry, the unlimited internet would have been no use to them, therefore they could simplu have asked to have BB internet in placeof the unlimited internet, effectively swapping them or waiving the fee so to speak
No, once again, I'm not.
Here is the original offer:
BB Bold 9700 Free
800mins
300 text + 1000 free
unlimted email and internet
Orange Maps
If you check the orange website, you'll see that they don't currently offer an 800 minute package with 300 texts + 100 texts, plus orange maps and internet and definitely not for £20 p/m
The most likely candidate is the Panther 30 18 month, but heavily modified as a retentions offer...
Original offer is: Racoon 30 18 month £30 (£25 online)
400 minutes
300 texts
unlimited push email
free orange maps
phone cost: £99
Retentions would have heavily modified this package to come to the deal that was quoted.
The best soloution to the problem would be to go on a dolphin package, then have the BB net added as an extra (£5 pm), therefore, when they buy the iPhone, they can remove this and add the standar internet,so they can use it on iPhone.
Oh Daggy, your so naïve. For your first response, check the website, every phone with spec like the 5800 has a fee of £15 to upgrade, so if they're charging £10 its obvious the person is getting a 'max out' deal where they use all they can to stop you leaving, why would they write off £5 but not the rest? Also, unlimited internet is £10 a month Daggy, not £5, so they wouldn't 'waive the fee so to speak' the £5 package is 500mb. And as for your 2nd response, your just a knowitall who knows naff all as it was blatant in my post it was a Panther plan, and while speaking about retentions, thought better than to start preaching its all been modified as anyone with 4 brain cells would know this, to quote you "this is retentions, afterall"0 -
Hi there,
I just rung Orange retentions,
I am currently on Dolphin 25 and pay £20 a month as I had a discount and thats for 100 minutes and unlimited texts.
Been offered Nokia 6700 (which is the phone I want), with 200 mins and unlimited texts and internet but have to pay £15 for the handset and this comes in at £15 a month.
I have asked to think about it today and will get back to them later because he bamboozled me a bit with lots of numbers.
I did ask about waiving the handset fee and he said to get the unlimited internet I have used up all of my budget so would have to pay the one off fee for the phone. I only use about 30 mins of my talk time each month and asked about lowering the minutes but if he done that then my monthly rental goes up?
What do you reckon?
Thanks Sam0 -

OK, first of all don't bring your psuedo-intellignet insults into this forum, we're all (for the most part) adults here, we can have a discussion without resorting to insults; or at least most of us can.
With regards to my first post, Latecoemer (the person who was talking about the 5800) actually finally went for the offer I quoted:
400 mins
300 texts
unlimited landlines
unlimited internet
however, they walked away with a Sony Ericsson W995 for free.
If you check the packages, you'll actually see that on a £20 per month tariff (racoon 25, 18 month, £20 pm online, £25 instore) with less minutes, the same texts, unlimited landlines and no free internet, the phone is actually £50.
The package Latecomer actually walked away with is meant to be the Racoon 30
400 mins
300 texts
unlimited landline minutes
this doesn't come with the internet, so it was added on by retentions.
This package is £30 pm (£25 online), latecomer got it for £15, with internet which would be an extra £5 for 500mb or an extra £8.79 for 10 GBP...not sure what the pmeans, can only assume thats a typo and they meant GB.
Althoungh technically not unlimited, it's unlikely they'll hit 10GB on a phone.
So if they actually paid for the package they got it would be:
300 texts
400 minutes
unlimited landline
£30 (£25 online)
+
unlimited net: £8.70
= £38.70 ( £35.70 online)
If you put the Nokia 5800 into the orange website, you'll actually find that it's free onall racoon tariffs, including the Racoon 25... the W995 costs £50 on that tariff
Therefore, if Latecomer managed to get a W995 for free, which is a higher priced and spec'd phone than the 5800, this supports my advice... i.e. Latecomer didn't have to pay for the 5800.
With regards to the Second post, it's impossible to say exactly which plan it is without seeing the bill or contract, however, it's irrelevant, as I said, it could be any plan, but I did post the most likely starting point, however, as you said it's also quite likely it could be a panther, given the free web.
Once again, throwing psuedo-intelligent insults about will get you noweher; apart from banned...0 -

Hi,
the reason they offer you lots of minutes if you don't use many, is because the computer knows you wont use them, therefore it allows them to offer it.... seems like a good deal, but actually they lose nothing.
With regards to the phone, I wouldn't pay.
You have a few options and I'd be £15 (:p) on the fact that you could get it for free:
Tell them you'll leave if they make you pay.. they'll send you a letter asking you to ring them as they don't want you to leave, then just say I was offered this package, but I refuse to pay £15 for the handset.
Go through a website like e2save/phoneboxmobiles, ring them and tell them what you want... I'd advise that you aimhigher than what you want as they willknock you down.....0 -
oh mark mark mark, there's another one with a free phone that is supposedly not within oranges free remit
Ok, its now 100% clear to me you think retentions can do anything to any account. If George can get that deal that doesn't mean Pete or Janine or Mr.X can, I can gaurantee you that if they were trying to charge 10pound, then they have no 'budget' remaining, if another agent got them a w995 free, they've went around building the deal a different way. Please don't attempt to argue, as you won't win because your incorrect. I know how retentions works, where as you think they will do anything, when they won't, remember, the agents are bonused and if they don't budge, they will let you leave. Loads more customers out there.0
