Orange Retention Offers

Be VERY careful about doing anything online as I have just been burnt with this. My loyalty offer was shown as 10% off my current tarrif which is "Racoon 30 Save £5.00" from a previous loyalty deal (this was displayed in BOLD when I confirmed by acceptance of the loyalty offer). Now, given that my current tariff costs me £15 per month, I expected the revised cost to be £13.50 per month (plus a shiny new 6700 phone).
How wrong I was. What actually happens is you lose the previous loyalty deal and the tariff reverts to its full price less the 10% discount. So...I would have actually been paying £22.50 per month (£7.50 MORE) for the same package.
I have complained to Orange (and rejected the new phone so the new contract is effectivly cancelled within the 7 day cooling off period).
I shall now leave it another month and call to speak to someone.
BEWARE.
Thanks for that and sorry about you being stung. Thats terrible.
Thinking about it I remember when I took my original contract out it was on a special offer and was down from £30 to £20 a month now you mention it.
Will give them a ring later and see what they say.0 -
Thanks for the reply but I was really wanting to know abuot which phone if any to go for? Or suggestions on which ones to ask for?
I dont have any intention of getting a Blackberry unless there is a compelling reason to get one. Whats so great about Blackberrys anyway (or any other smartphone for that matter?)
Your previous post (what Orange offered you for £15) interested me a great deal, as I am about to give them a ring and negotiate a new contract.
If I were you, I'd go for the Nokia 5800. Looks nice.0 -

Erm I need to know what you want out of the phone you get and what you spent on your previous contract... If you didn't spend much, you'd only be able to get a mid range phone if you want a good deal.
Which Blackberry were you offered?
Smartphones are generally better for internet and business based things... more of a machine; less of a toy.0 -
Hi, i have been told by orange that I am a band 5 customer and if i upgrade now the remaining 3 and a half months on my current contract won't be added to the new one.
I asked about an iphone and was told that i could get the 16gb 3gs for £89 which when i look is the same as a new customer, do orange offer the actual phone any cheaper if you ring upgrades or do they always stick the prices shown on there website.0 -

If you look further up this thread you see there are no offers for anyone wanting an iPhone. The price on the site is the price you pay if you a new customer or been with them years.
Apple set the price not the network.0 -
I was offered a BB Bold 9700 (Free)
Unlimited Internet
Unlimited Text
600 mins
Insurance
£25 p/m on a 24 month deal
Would this sim card work in a iphone if i was to sell the BB and use the money to buy a iphone.
TIA0 -
I have a feeling that BB's come with BB internet and I have a feeling that it's been said that this won't work with another phone ?
I'm sure someone that has a definitive will post or you could ask the question in its own thread on the site.
The other option would be to get a different handset (maybe an HTC) as they use a standard internet connection and would sell for about the same price.0 -
I'm on Dolphin on an Sony Ericcson w980. Current contract ends on 28th June but after logging into my account today it says my next upgrade deal is 28th March. So I now need the knowledge of folks on here:
* deffo want a smartphone so iphone or blackberry? (I'm veering towards an iphone as alwasy on fb, twitter etc but not keen on £89 charge)
* been with orange forever and never had a problem with them but always get a better deal when going through retentions, what should I be expecting to be offered?
* I normally get great deals on 02 and ask Orange to match them which they do, what are the best deals out there for blackberrys and iphones which I should be asking them to match?
* shamefully I'm not signed up to quidco yet (promise I will) what do I get through there for phones?
sorry if these questions are too generic. not really knowing where to begin with it all.0 -
It will work. My 9700 is broke already so I put the sim in my iPhone whilst waiting on a replacement and the bundle uses internet just as normal. Never been charged for it either.
I've asked this question on several forums and the answer has always been no.
I think you need to check as the BIS service will only work with Blackberries.
Yes you can use the SIM in other phones for calls and texts, but data will be outside of your contract and chargeable. Some days you're the bird......and some days you're the statue :cool:0 -

Depends on the contract, £89 is only with certain one's most cost more than that

You won't be offered any deal on the Iphone, prices on site are the price you pay regardless of loyalty etc as I myself can verify as a longstanding customer who's not happy about it. Deals on the Blackberry vary but you could be offered a decent deal on most models, I certainly was.

They won't match any Iphone deals. Blackberry deals basically I'd try and get whatever package suits you on a normal contract but try and persuade them to throw in the Blackberry internet bundle for free (normally £5).
* shamefully I'm not signed up to quidco yet (promise I will) what do I get through there for phones?
