As a rule you should always go through to retentions. My daughter was offered a deal from upgrades for £18.50, said no. Retention did the same deal for £10.00.

I'm due for an upgrade with Orange in March.

Currently paying £35pm, on the God awful Samsung i8530, and I am coming to the end of an 18 month contract.

Wanting a new contract for around the bargain basement price of £10pm (money is tight :(). Ideally, I'll like an internet bundle thrown in for that as well. Not bothered about what phone I get, although I want to avoid Samsung.

Am I asking too much?! Has anyone got a deal for around this price? Cheers.

A few months back I got offered the Sony Ericsson W995 (which I hear is a very good phone) for £17 pm, unlimited texts and 600 mins I think....

I said no and he automatically said OK, he then reduced it to 15 pm. I'm only on a 12 months £35 pm contract

If you pushed, I thinkyou could get that reduced a fair bit.

I didn't take the phone BTW as I already had a c905 and the w995 is just a reboxed c905 with wlakman buttons and a new body

I called today to ask when my contract was up, I knew it was during March. Got straight through which was a surprise! The guy I spoke to asked if I wanted to find a better contract, I said no as I get a very weak signal where I live, despite living in built up SE England! Apart from saying that a few handsets could be used via my BB to boost the signal, no attempt was made to keep me as a customer, I was expecting to be offered this and that to try and keep my custom but, it was very lacklustre.

So farewell to Orange and I look forward to the HTC Desire on a new network...

A tip. If your thinking of leaving, dont say "I have no signal" as automatically they will go, ok thats fine, as they cant exactly build a mast for you, so please dont use words like lacklustre unless your describing your attempt to get the best deal.

Heres some good ones to pull a good deal

"Ive seen a better deal on o2, voda etc etc" or "Id like to stay with Orange, but its too expensive" the agent will then go "Ok, lets see if we can match that deal, or if going for reason 2, they will go, Right, lets get the cost down.

Also, just because one customer can get a great deal, doesnt mean you can. Get the best deal for yourself! If Jack has £10 a month deal, this means he has basically been spending a lot and using a little, if you spend around £20 a month, and use your allowances, ie 200mins 200texts, then you wont be eligible 9 times out of 10 for a £10 a month deal. Please be realistic and review your bills, so if your using 500mins and 250 texts, ask for that deal at a price you find reasonable.

Hope this helps you all. From an experienced mobile phones deal chaser!

There's your problem... Once you said that he probably thought there was nothing he could do, how would he fix that problem? Especially given that you said you didn't want to find a better contract.

maybe try again, but say you want a better deal, or you'll leave as other networks offer better services.

    I've been offered the following:

    400 mins
    300 texts
    unlimited landlines
    unlimited internet

    £15 per month.

    Choice of
    Nokia 6303
    nokia 6700
nokia 5800 (extra one off payment of £10)
LG Pop (think it was a GD510??)
Some Blackberry (needs Blackberry bundle @ extra £5 a month)

I'm happy with the amount per month and the minutes but have no idea on the phones. Which of the above is worth having or if anyone has other suggestions then let me know. I'm not too fussed about having the latest phone but I want to make sure I get a good one.

Well its upgrade time for me too. I was just online and was going to do it there. They have offered me a loyalty offer online of £5 off my current £20 tarrif which is 100 mins and unlimited texts. However, by looking at the past few pages on this thread seems I would be better ringing and speaking to someone.

Only problem is I dont know what I want. Will have to have a scout around. I definitely need unlimited texts and a new phone! However, the minutes are neither here nor there. I do want internet now though.

I would highly recommend knowing what you need and what you would compromise on before phoning. That way you can push for what you really want/need and let other stuff go to get you there.

Utter bolloks. If you get that phone then you'll lose the unlimited internet (not applicable for BB AFAIK), I'd tell them to wave the fee or you'll walk.

Also, £10 for the Nokia.. tell them you wont pay.
