Well its upgrade time for me too. I was just online and was going to do it there. They have offered me a loyalty offer online of £5 off my current £20 tarrif which is 100 mins and unlimited texts. However, by looking at the past few pages on this thread seems I would be better ringing and speaking to someone.
Only problem is I dont know what I want. Will have to have a scout around. I definitely need unlimited texts and a new phone! However, the minutes are neither here nor there. I do want internet now though.
If you were previously on £20 per month, I wouldn't imagine you'd have much bargaining power.. most people in this thread seem to have been on £35 per month tariffs.
Youcould still get a reasonable deal though.... you'll probably have to go fora mid range phone though.0 -
If I upgraded to a BB Bold 9700 (Free Phone , 800mins, 300 text + 1000 free, unlimted email and internet, Orange Maps) for the offered £20 a month (18 months)..........could I, when the new iPhone is released, buy it on PAYG and add the required internet package to my contract? Seeing as BB internet wont work with the iPhone.
I've been using an unlocked iPhone for the past couple of years on Orange and would like to continue, but the contracts are just not worth it. I'd like to try a Blackberry for a couple of months, rather than getting a Saito and selling it straight away. Some days you're the bird......and some days you're the statue :cool:0 -

You could probably do that, you could also save £5 by removing the BB net package and then ypu just need unlimited web for the iPhone.0 -
Been reading this thread for a couple of days now, and I have been finding it very useful. So thought I would post my success for others to share.
After phoning orange 5 times, and getting through to a range of people including a bloke that couldn't care less and told me there is nothing he can do for me, a man who othered me a reasonable deal but said thats the best they can do, and then the woman I spoke to 2 mins ago, its really amazing how varied their responses can be.
I have been on a £20 a month 200 mins/unlim txts package (18 months) for the last 3 years, never going over my limits. Was offered to begin with:
BB Bold 9700: free, 24 months, £24.99 a month, 1200 mins, unlim txts, unlim data.
After trying to get the term down, and failing, she offered me the same package but with 800 mins rather than 1200 for £19.99 a month - so i snapped it up.
All I can suggest is, if you don't get the deal you want, keep phoning back! you'll get there in the end.0 -

Congrats - the only problem with that is that some retentions staff make a note of the deal offered. So sometimes they will keep referring back to that. Some days you're the bird......and some days you're the statue :cool:0 -
I have 2 phones on Orange, and they would not match O2's simplicity tariff (300 mins, unlimited text and data for £15), and would not jig any of the allowances around to try and keep me - I even said that I was not interested in a new phone, but he kept asking me what phones I wanted.
No hesitation on giving me my two PAC's , and he admitted that he could not match the offer as it was "too good"
He even said that he could not offer free data on anything less than a £25/m plan because one of the phones had been using some data on the existing contract - if no data had been used, then he could offer unlimited data on a £20/m plan. Bizarre0 -
Hi im new to the forum and just wanted to share my experience with Orange.
Just phoned up today to upgrade my phone and this is what I got offered:
Blackberry Bold 9700
600 mins
1300 texts
unlimited internet
18 month contract
£23.50 per month
Sounds pretty good to me, should I take this or go through to retentions?
what is your current contract?0 -
Utter bolloks. If you get that phone then you'll lose the unlimited internet (not applicable for BB AFAIK), I'd tell them to wave the fee or you'll walk.
Also, £10 for the Nokia.. tell them you wont pay.
Thanks for the reply but I was really wanting to know abuot which phone if any to go for? Or suggestions on which ones to ask for?
I dont have any intention of getting a Blackberry unless there is a compelling reason to get one. Whats so great about Blackberrys anyway (or any other smartphone for that matter?)0 -

Not really if you think about it. If you never use a feature and they think you are unlikely to use it in the future - its very low cost to them to give it to you for free. you think you are getting a bonus and hence more likely to go for it but in reality if you dont use it, you gain nothing by having it.0 -

Be VERY careful about doing anything online as I have just been burnt with this. My loyalty offer was shown as 10% off my current tarrif which is "Racoon 30 Save £5.00" from a previous loyalty deal (this was displayed in BOLD when I confirmed by acceptance of the loyalty offer). Now, given that my current tariff costs me £15 per month, I expected the revised cost to be £13.50 per month (plus a shiny new 6700 phone).
How wrong I was. What actually happens is you lose the previous loyalty deal and the tariff reverts to its full price less the 10% discount. So...I would have actually been paying £22.50 per month (£7.50 MORE) for the same package.
I have complained to Orange (and rejected the new phone so the new contract is effectivly cancelled within the 7 day cooling off period).
I shall now leave it another month and call to speak to someone.
