You can get any handset, unlock it and stick an Orange sim in it, most of the generic handsets sold are also unlocked, I'm referring to handsets that are officially being launched by Orange

£449 on the apple store, and no doubt a lotless on eBay

would i be able to unlock the handset from the apple store and use my contract sim from orange in it?
only reason is i know they will offer me a deal for about £20 per month and i could sell the handset they give me to part finance the purchase of the iphone
any ideas of which handset is easiest to sell on/worth the most (couldnt get the bold as i was told that the BB data bundle wouldnt work in an iphone and i would need another bolt on for data)

You could unlock the phone, but it would make more sense for you to buy an Orange iPhone, possibly PAYG from orange store or from eBay.

Erm, HTC Hero, Sony Ericsson SAtio, Nokia x6... they all go for about £200-£250 on eBay... HTC HD2 is a £400 plus phone, but not on Orange.

I'm due for an upgrade with Orange in March.

Currently paying £35pm, on the God awful Samsung i8530, and I am coming to the end of an 18 month contract.

Wanting a new contract for around the bargain basement price of £10pm (money is tight :(). Ideally, I'll like an internet bundle thrown in for that as well. Not bothered about what phone I get, although I want to avoid Samsung.

Am I asking too much?! Has anyone got a deal for around this price? Cheers.

personally I think you'll struggle unless you get a sim only deal but then obviously you'll be stuck with the same phone that you seem to hate. Also you don't say how many minutesand texts etc you currently have. If you did somehow manage to get within that price range I'd imagine the amount you'd get with the contract would take a huge drop but I could be wrong. :)
    LBM 2 - 27.05.09. Debt was £33224 + 1100:eek: OD.
    Car - was - [STRIKE]20867[/STRIKE] - now - Gone! :T Zopa - was [STRIKE]6800[/STRIKE] -now - Gone loan - was [STRIKE]1687 [/STRIKE]- now Gone! :T Student Loan - was [STRIKE]1850 [/STRIKE] - now gone!! - Barclay Card was -[STRIKE] £2000[/STRIKE] now - Gone OD - was 1100 - now - 900

I just got 400 minutes, unlimited texts for £10 a month.

    18 month contract.

Tried really hard for unlimited internet but no go suprisingly :D

You can add on internet for £5 a month though when you can afford it??

Phone was a really simple Nokia 6303 classic - I'm really not interested in gadget phones & just wanted a £10 deal with unlimited texts so very pleased :)
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

    Excellent, thanks for the info.

This is the kind of deal that would interest me, as I too am not bothered about the phone (although saying that, I've had Nokias before and they were a lot better than my current phone, which is a Samsung).

    just a question for lucfcgirl....

when I selected the 'thinking of leaving orange' option will that have put me through to the retentions department or can you only be internally transferred to retentions? I think he said 'loyalty department' or something like that when he answered the phone...

    thanks

EDIT - I can answer that question myself - you can get through to retentions by choosing this option (I just called again and checked). Apologies!

just wanted to post the final deal I've taken for other people's info:

    18 month contract

    600 cross network mins
    300 texts
    unlimited landline calls
    unlimited internet

    £22.50 per month
  • Hi im new to the forum and just wanted to share my experience with Orange.

Just phoned up today to upgrade my phone and this is what I got offered:
    Blackberry Bold 9700
    600 mins
    1300 texts
    unlimited internet
    18 month contract
    £23.50 per month

Sounds pretty good to me, should I take this or go through to retentions?
