Orange sell the 3gs for £440 + £10 top up if I'm not mistaken? I'm not a massive texter so 300 is ample for me.

For the data/internet on the BB Bold they said it would be an extra £5 p/month so I thought the extra £90 over 18months wouldn't be worth the extra I'd get for selling it over the Satio?

Didn't account for the BB internet... your absolutely right, Satio is a better option :)

    Brainwave:

Have you thought about asking Orange for a contribution towards the iPhone instead of the Satio.. i.e. a credit to your bill, you could then pay them the extra for the handset?

Also, does the regular internet work on the iphone, or does it require a similar package to the bb?

Might be worth a try, although I doubt they would credit anywhere like the money I could sell it for?

I've asked 4 Orange staff members if the normal data bundle will work on the iphone and they have all said yes. So I really hope ot does! The only thing they have said is the iphone uses more data so I will have to keep an eye on my useage, although the unltd iphone data is apparently only 750mb.

Funnily enough, when I spoke to retentions a couple of months ago, they all said a normal contract sim with data bundle would NOT work on iphone...dunno what has changed now??

LUFC girl can you shed any light on this?

    Thanks

There was a thread about that the other day:

Someone took their iPhone abroad and ended up with a huge bill as they forgot to turn an option off which stops the iPhone downloading in the background....

It clearly says in the menus that you should turn it off when abroad, but obviously if you don't know its there.....

750 MB should be fine... you'll struggle to hit that unless you start dling huge files

Yeah it does work. I've used it myself adding it onto a sim only Orange plan.

Nobody can advise you about it, with an iPhone you're *supposed* to be either on an iPhone PAYG or contract tariff. I don't discuss it with customers at all because there are always instances where things could go wrong and it backfires on you.

And Orange won't give you credit towards a new handset sorry!

Why is it that Orange have no flexibility on iPhone offers/prices?
Seems as though the other networks do, especially o2.

I've been with orange for ages, but the phones they have available are crap.... the only thing keeping me with them is the tmobile merger.

I guess I'll give it a try and see, when you say you've used it yourself? what exactly do you mean? sorry if I'm missing the obvious! Do you mean you've used a normal sim in an iPhone?

Also would I need to seriously use the internet on the iphone to exceed 500mb? I never download video/music or anything like that, just usually check footy scores and general browsing

    Thanks for your info

The only reason I've seen o2 offer discounts is by offering refurbished phones recently. (I do stand to be corrected though). Obviously we've only been selling the phone for four months so I don't think they're in a position to be able to offer refurbished discounts yet.
And I can't see anything changing with the prices, and if you're looking for an answer as to why we can't do deals, I honestly don't have a clue!

A few got brand new 3gs, but in general they are refurbished.
However, the refurbished phones are only phones that have been returned within 14 days of purchase, so surely Orange must have some.

Blah, not your fault.... just hoping things get better as far as phone choice goes when orange merge with t mobile.
  • hi there,
last months i searched for thebest deal for blackberry 9700 but one of the member on this site mentioned that deal i was on about was on 8520 or something. so first of all thanks to that user for stopping me to order wrong thing. well i was with orange on 12 mnths contract and retention offered me rubbish deals so i moved to 3PAYG with PAC etc. then called orange again and got the following last tuesday:-
    berry9700 bold free
    600mnts
    unlmtd text & internet
its on 24 months contract, dolphin someting, £20 for 18 months then £25 for last 6 months. works out to be average £21.35 / pm
well it not as good as your deal. i called orange to discuss about duration, line rental, mnts etc. the guy was really nice he said he could do anything on that particular day and can't disclose the details abut forthcoming plans etc but he mentioned if i call orange back after 31st of march there is going to be very big change and they will definately be able to do something.
now by the end of march i will complete just about 1 & 1/2 months with them do you think they can downgrade my line rental a bit. i am looking for around £20/pm for 18 months. hoping response from somebody who work for orange or ofcourse and suggestions ...most welcome:). thanks

depending on what you've been spending over the past year, 20 pm is pretty reasonable TBF.

Of course,by the time March 31st comes around you'll have spent £70 extra anyway, therefore paying 25 for 6 months only works out at an extra 30 quid.... you'll be at a loss
