Orange Retention Offers

It doesn't work. The product included with a Blackberry is BIS internet. I'm not sure entirely how it's different but I think I read it was something to do with the BB using a BB APN and standard internet just routing through Orange.0

Well I phoned retentions again today and spoke to a lovely helpful lady but despite trying everything, I got nowhere regarding improving yesterdays offer. It appears though that the huge reduction in line rental I wangled last time from £45 to £30 has hobbled my negotiating position this time.
She did go through my last 6 months of bills though. My usage is very erratic depending on where I am staying in any given month, but it appears I never get anywhere near my 1200 mins cross network as most my usage is to my magic numbers or to landlines.
On that basis she suggested a cheaper contract. This is what I got.......
24 month contract 25 quid a month
800 cross network mins
400 texts
magic numbers
unlimited landline calls
unlimited browsing and mails
blackberry 8520
Its £5 a month less than I'm paying now so should save me £120 over the life of the contract which is better than nothing I guess.0 -
Phoned retentions today because i am nearly at the end of my £25 a month, 200 mins, unlimited texts 18 month contracted.
Somehow i managed to get -
Free BB bold 9700
800 mins
unlimited texts
BB internet package
£20 a month for 24 months
seems like i got a good deal0 -
Hi there would anyone from Orange be kind enough to be able to answer this question?
Can Orange offer reasonable retention details on a 12mth contract (although I fully expect to pay more on line rental).
Thanks in advance.
Jayvid
I was on a 12 month contract and I phoned up about 30 days before my renewal and got a decent deal.

If you don't make a company any money what do you expect?
True, but where is the logic in offering somebody an awesome deal in the knowledge that when they come to upgrade? It's terrible business practice, almost giving the retentions team an impossible job.
Surely you can see that it is slightly annoying that the 'retentions' team - which is supposed to 'reward' your loyalty -, can't offer you a better deal than a high street store can offer a new customer?

My contract is up tomorrow so am ready to negotiate another good deal. I'll be very glad to see the back of my current phone.
I was going to go for the HTC Hero but I can see it's been mentioned on here that there will be a new version coming out at the end of March.
Wondered if anyone had an opinion on this - do you think it's worth waiting for the new one (the Bravo) or should I just take the Hero now on a retention deal? I guess the Hero may not be offered on retentions anyway?
I mainly just want it for checking my e-mails and facebook.0
