  • The Hero is not a bad phone and is due for another firmware update to Android 2.1 soon as well. Orange will be offering its "successor" the Bravo very soon i think though.

I'm rapidly approaching the end of my contract and I'm interested in the Blackberry Bold 9700, I rang up the other day and they wouldn't even offer me the phone (tried to fob me off with the Curve 8520). Anyway, 3 have basically the exact deal I want, do you reckon if I ring up Orange will match it? Or better it?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Adam - see this offer. Hi have been with Orange on contract for 7 years and contract expired at the end of January 2010.

Had a Blackberry Curve was well pleased with it. I use it largely for work. The best feature in my view is the WiFi phone, I have terrible mobile reception at home and it really is a good feature. Rang Orange and asked about the Bold 9700 and was offered:

    - Pay Orange £50
    - Continue with Racoon plan (300 mins, 100 texts and unlimited calls to STD numbers)
    - £18.25 a month ( base payment for Curve and the Racoon was £21)

The Bold came the next day and it is great.

Very happy with Orange customer service. I know that everybody has a mixed experience with providers but I thought this was an excellent deal.

Thanks for the advice Lleucu, I need unlimited texts but I'm willing to pay more for that. Orange are usually okay with me too, you just need to make sure you get the upper hand in the conversation.

I wanted an iPhone 3GS, but just cant justify the cost. £45 for 2 years etc...

Called retentions and have just been offered a Blackberry 9700 Bold for free and the following:-

    400mins
    Unlimited Text and Email
    Unlimited Browsing
    £20 a month (incl VAT)
    18 month contract

Getting the handset for free and reducing the Panther package by £10 a month, would appear to use up all of my loyalty bonus. Do you think I could squeeze any more out of Orange....the deal doesn't seem fantastic? My last upgrade was........unbelievably 2004.

I've been using an unlocked iPhone for the past few years and have hundreds of apps so would like to continue with Apple. Just thinking that I should take the best upgrade package possible and either sell the Blackberry and buy an iPhone for about the same off eBay. Or keep the Blackberry and just get an iPod Touch. Anyone else out there with the same dilemma?

The deal doesnt seem fantastic? Top end phone for free, unlimited email and internet, 18 month contract, £20 a month, seems pretty good to me
