  • I wanted an iPhone 3GS, but just cant justify the cost. £45 for 2 years etc...

Called retentions and have just been offered a Blackberry 9700 Bold for free and the following:-

    400mins
    Unlimited Text and Email
    Unlimited Browsing
    £20 a month (incl VAT)
    18 month contract

Getting the handset for free and reducing the Panther package by £10 a month, would appear to use up all of my loyalty bonus. Do you think I could squeeze any more out of Orange....the deal doesn't seem fantastic? My last upgrade was........unbelievably 2004.

Surely you are joking. Ok it,s not fantastic but it,s still a very good deal.

    Just a shame i was,nt offered a similar deal!

The Hero is not a bad phone and is due for another firmware update to Android 2.1 soon as well. Orange will be offering its "successor" the Bravo very soon i think though.

The successor to the Hero is the Legend, due later this year. The Bravo, now called the Desire is due to hit on 26th March, and is very closely related to the Nexus One.

  • I was on panther 45 but had good loyalty deal to £30 month.

Just contacted retentions and was offered same......

    1200 mins
    500 texts
    unlimited landline calls
    unlimited internet

£30 a month (for 24 months) plus one off payment of £15 for a blackberry curve 8520

    What do you guys reckon?
  • My dad was on a Panther 45-18month, paying £31.50 getting:

    1200 minutes
    500 Texts
    Push Email, Unlimited Internet

    Accepted today Dolphin 35-18month £17.50:
    1000mins
    Unlimited Texts
    Unlimited Email & Internet
    Blackberry Curve 8520

Quite happy with that. He's going to sell the phone and keep his Blackberry Bold 9000.
  • Can I get your thoughts on this please. Unsure whether to go for an iphone or a bold - at the moment I have wangled free BES with my BB because I need wireless calendar and contacts sync and it works great, but I feel when I upgrade I'll probably lose it and then have to pay for it. So my choices are as follows:

    iphone 32GB for £179.99, 600 minutes 300 texts unlimited landlines £35/mo, 24 months
    Blackberry 9700 free, 600 minutes 300 texts unlimited landlines & BIS £28.50/mo, 18 months

Working out the total cost of the contract, the iphone would be £1019.99 and the BB £513 but if I add the BES on (£30/mo?) that puts it at £1053 for 18 months.

Do I gamble that BES will still work for free and take the Bold 9700 or do I cut my losses and go for the iphone? Can I get a better deal than what I've been quoted so far as I think I have a fair amount of loyalty points for this upgrade.

    Cheers,

    Chris

That looks like an excellent deal, has anyone tried to push for the Blackberry Bold 9700?

I was offered it for free without any prompting at all when asking for comparison units for the iphone.

Hi there would anyone from Orange be kind enough to be able to answer this question?

Can Orange offer reasonable retention details on a 12mth contract (although I fully expect to pay more on line rental).

    Thanks in advance.

Asked instore today and the SA was adament that the Internet Browsing part of a Blackberry contract would work still on any handset, including the iPhone. As long as the new handset was unlocked for Orange there would be no restrictions apart from the Blackberry apps.
Anyone able to confirm of try their 'blackberry' sim in another handset?
