Sorry for being such a novice on the whole techie side but just wanted to clarify if I've been understanding the thread...

I could negotiate a new deal with retentions and get a new phone, then sell the phone and buy an iphone (I can just buy an iphone without a contract?). This would cost me the difference between the two phones but I could use all my minutes/texts/internet etc on the iphone with my orange sim rather than having to get an iphone specific contract?

Have I understood this correctly? This sounds like a great option to me as I really want an iphone but don't want to lose my great deal with orange.

Apologies if I've got this wrong!

This would work, but as someone mentioned before the Blackberry internet bundle doesn't work on other phones.

If your deal is especially good, you may find that orange will not give you that deal again as they wont have made any money off you in the last year or two... What is your deal?

You can buy the iPhone from Apple (maybe just o2 sims though), or on eBay, but be carefull if you buy on eBay, it's at your own risk.

There's an article on this website that explains how to get the bets phone deals, maybe you should read it. I'd link to it if I could find it...

    here it is

    thanks for replying.

Current deal which I've now come to the end of...

    unlimited landlines
    750 cross network mins
    200 text messages
    unlimited internet
    £27.50 per month

It was with the HTC Touch Diamond which I've had no end of problems with.

You may be right though about them not having made enough money out of me over the last 18 months....
  • I'm quite looking forward to next monday when I become eligible for an upgrade.. As i got a pretty good deal a year last Decemeber.. Shall be quite funny to see what they offer me!

I'm still just waiting for new handsets :S. As I told retentions just the other night, I'm happy for them togive me deals (which they were basically thowing at me) but until they have some premium handsets available what's the point? Most of what's on offer at the moment is no better than my original tocco which is a bit of a let down. Does anyone else keep getting conflicting info re Desire/Xperia X10? I spoke to someone about 3 weeks back who swore blind both handsets were due at the beginning of March and to call back aat the end of Feb. However, when I called yesterday, the rather lovely sounding girl I spoke to had no idera what I was on about and said neither were showing up on the system with the only up and coming handset being the Nokia X6. Any ideas?

    No sweat...

Did you ever go over on your contract? If not, £27.50 x 18 = £495

If you factor in the cost of the phone, they probably haven't mademuch of a profit off you.

Of course, that doesn't mean they don't want your business and i've got good deals on cheaper packages than that before, so you should be OK.

Welcome to Orange... they always do this with handsets.
Have you not thought about trying an external website, thats what I usually do

Frustrating isn't it? Well yeah I did consider an external site (ironically how I started with Orange) but I didn't want ot invalidate my bonus etc :o/

You wont... as a guide, I'm currently trying to upgrade my GF and so far have been offered:

BB 9700 or Nokia X6 at £25 (or £20 cant remember) with 400 minutes, unlimited texts and web. - phoneboxmobiles

    Motorola Milestone £30 pm, 200 mins/unlmtd txt/unlmtd net - e2 save

Both 18 month with free phone BTW.

I'm about to post a thread about my GF's upgrade, to get some info.

Incidently, if you want to stay with Orange after this upgrade, don't go for something too good, as if it's too cheap you wont have any power to get a good deal next time.
