Orange Retention Offers

Its funny, I was just thinking whilst sitting on hold to Orange again... its been said repeatedly about Orange only being able to offer what they can offer etc
But, it took me six days and about 8 phone calls to get the retention offer I wanted. Therefore someone less familiar would assume at the end of the first phonecall that Orange had offered them the best deal. But that may not be the case..
Please do let us know what the outcome is from your phone call. I'm interested to know if they manage to offer the deal you want or not!
I always respect someone a lot more who comes on the phone and says 'I want xx mins, xx texts and internet with xx handset for xx per month'. Rather than going round in circles because someone doesn't know what phone they want or what minutes or texts they want. I hope OnTheUp, that you get the deal your looking for at this attempt.0 -
Ok so after yet another phone call this is what I have got;
BB Bold
1200 min
500 texts
Unlimited landline
Unlimited Internet
24 month contract
£20 a month
Yup £20 a month. So as I have said many many times before on this thread, people it pays to persue. Had I have accepted their final and best offer yesterday I would have been 7.50 a month worse off for half the min. 7.50 over 2 years is £180. Alot of money.
The scope thats is there for negotiation is fair bigger than certain people give credit for. I knew this and this is what I was saying last night.
I am happy I stuck to my guns, as yet another excellent contract negotiated by moi!!
Now for OH phone.....0 -

You know, if this as I take it is meant as a dig at myself it's very childish. I said to you that you may get a better deal. All the advisor has done is discounted a plan by £10 p/m to make it the price it is. Which means your sister must have a massive amount of loyalty points, something from the previous posts with offers I could never have imagined.
I am pleased you got a good deal, and that Orange could sort it out for you. Unfortunately, and I know it's hard to get your head round, this isn't the case for every customer.0 -
It was not meant as a dig, I would say more making a point which I am allowed to do? Although I appreciated yours and others advice, i think its very important you should be aware of what you say ...
And what makes me laugh is they chuck all these extras at you, which she doesnt need, just so they can justify the higher price!! But she doesnt want it she just wants a cheaper contract. Perhaps Orange need to realsie that they need to speculate to accumulate lol.
They throw the extras at you because they can't drop the price anymore and so try and make the deal sound more enticing by doing so. Advisors tend to try their best to retain custom (apart from a few, some of which I've encountered myself in retentions) but sometimes a customers expectations and what Orange can actually do don't match up.
They could drop the price and dramatically. Unfortunately you have put yourself in a difficult position as you work for Orange so people tend to take what you say as gospel. You say "all the advisor has done is drop it by £10". Well im sorry but dropping a contract by £10 a month is a big deal to me.
There was much advice from various people on the fact that Orange "are trying to run a business" Well this is a Money saving forum????? so the whole point of us all coming on her is to get a better deal. So far i have pushed for 2 better contracts that I could easily have given up on on the first hurdle.
All i want to make sure is that money savers have the full facts on how to save money, this is the forum to do it. People should not be made to feel guilty for trying to get a better deal..
Thanks for all the tips guys :-)0 -
Retention deals and what the advisors can offer change on a daily basis, congrats on the deal0

I am currently on a £35.00 per month deal - at the time this was discounted to £30.00 as it was not through the stores. Over time I have got a £5.00 off for threatening to leave to 02 plus another £5.00 loyalty deal.
For this got 600 mins, unlimited text, web on a then funky Nokia phone on 18 month deal.
First attempt saw for £20.00 per month, plus £5.00 for net
24 month contract Free Motorola Dext, 400 mins, unlimited texts or £50.00 for handset on a 18 month deal
Dilema is I can get an 02 phone which will then give me £5.00 off my excellent broadband.
So that means on a 24 month contract, I can get Iphone 3g for £30.00 per month after my discount.
I am sure there is some more value to be unlocked - tried to get free texts reduced and get free web bolt on.
Is there any more wriggle room on other Orange Android phones. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The only other Andriod (I think) phone I can think of that is lower value than the Dext is the HTC Tattoo Ink. So there may be a little more room for deals on that one.
Good luck!0 -

Not necessarily retentions related but are there any plans for Orange to offer the Sony Xperia X10 any time soon?0 -
I just phoned Orange, I finished my 18 month contract back in Nov and was trying to get hold of just a lower price plan with no free phone and with a lower cost per month. Just the talk plan.
They consistantly tryed to sell me a new 18 month for £20 with free phone, but I did not want a new contract just a one month cancellation that I can cancel or upgrade at any time.
Something like O2 simplicity which i've had before but don't want all the messing around with PAC codes and number changes. And I like Orange Weds.
So I currently pay £40 a month for 1200 mins, 500 txt, 500MB (panther 45) data, the cheapest plan they said they could do is the 1 month dolphin 20 sim only £20 with 600mins, unlimited text and pay £5 extra for 500MB data usage. £25.
Which is not very good really, I can get a lot more with O2 cheaper. They wouldn't budge on any offers. I probably should I said I want to speak to disconnections. I've had Orange contracts for many years and all they bantered on about is loyality points, and i've got 100. What? only 100 considering I used to have £200 bills for years, and all they can offer is no saving at all. Very disappointed.
End of rant...
Any ideas how to get cheaper plan?Audi - Vorsprung durch Technik0
