They are a business, people need to remember that, they operate like any other business does

I fully appreciate that, I just don't believe that offering new customers better than upgrading customers is good way to show they are interested in their existing customers... The customer then has to disconnect, which costs them, then sign back up, which costs them again..:rotfl:

MRC, surely that's common sense though. If they have people on low bands who don't make them money, they're obviously gonna be more interested in new customers with the potential to make them substantially more. Why would they bend over backwards to keep a customer on board that isn't a good deal to them, that's just business.
    LBM 2 - 27.05.09. Debt was £33224 + 1100:eek: OD.

I think you're missing the point. How would they be bending over backwards to save a customer, if the customer wants the EXACT same tariff of that a new customer. (Increase tariff to the new customer tariff..).. It's a fair deal that I thought all companies now offered! :T

The old customer doesn't want any discounts, any more privileges, just the same deal as a new customer can get..

I completely agree that they should just be able to match the deals a new customer are offered. It saves customer churn and therefore increases revenue as theres no hassle of the customer disconnecting and reconnecting. After all, they'd make exactly the same amount as a new customer.

Out of interest MRC, what was the deal you wanted that was online? And what did you get offered instead?

just a quick question, i popped into a local orange store here yesterday and put my details in the comp. The lady said im a band (i think that was the term) 5, which is the best apparently ??! the way it was put across was i was entitled to most phones free :s is that what it means? or does that refer to the points tally, and contrubutes mins, text, packages? sorry probably sounds a dumb question in your experience.
Personally im going to wait until march period to see what the HTC bravo is like although realise being a high spec phone would most likely have to put some money towards it

Hey good result for us yesterday !!! especially after the first 20 mins, plus ankergren actually had a GOOD game!! MOT
  • And its for a business to ensure they remain competitive.

It was a W995, it's all sorted now though. One is moving to Virgin and the other which was band 3 hopefully finally getting the W995..

Indeed, band 5 is the highest you can get. It depends on the handset of course, but if your band 5 you tend to have the most points (theoritically anyway). As well, if you get told a handset would cost you something in an Orange shop or online, give upgrades a call and sometimes they can get rid of the price.

Class result, I was so proud when all you could hear was 4,500 Leeds fans drowning out 35,000 Spurs fans!
  • Its funny, I was just thinking whilst sitting on hold to Orange again... its been said repeatedly about Orange only being able to offer what they can offer etc

But, it took me six days and about 8 phone calls to get the retention offer I wanted. Therefore someone less familiar would assume at the end of the first phonecall that Orange had offered them the best deal. But that may not be the case..
