Spoke to retentions this afternoon and managed to get the following offer:-
18 month contract,
HTC hero,
1200 mins,
500 texts,
unlimited calls to landlines,
unlimited internet,
Orange Care
all for £20 per month.:T:T:T
which means i've managed to bag additional 300 mins, u/l landline calls and orange care per month, oh and a new phone for £20 less pm than i was previously paying....!!!
All thanks to the helpful tips on here!!!0 -
I had a call from Orange to tell me that my contract is up at the end of next month. They offered me the Samsung S5600 because I said I like the touchscreen phones (currently have a Tocco). However, although most of the features seemed quite good, the camera wasn't brilliant - I often forget to take my camera with me and need to use my phone to take pics of the kids.
Anyway, my husband said to look online and see what phones are out there that I might like (big mistake - I've gone mad). The ones I've decided I like are the Samsung Omnia 2, HTC HD2, Nokia N97 and Samsung Jet.
I wondered if anyone has been offered anything for any of these phones or if I'll struggle to get a deal?
I was thinking I'd give them a call tomorrow to see what they say but thought I'd ask on here in the meantime.
Thanks.0 -

The only one we sell is the Samsung Jet. Without looking at your account I couldn't tell you what you'd be entitled to though!
IMO, the Tocco Ultra is better than the Jet, touchscreen and keypad plus a better camera than the Jet too.0 -
Thanks for the info lufcgirl, slightly disappointed that my choices have come down to 1. I think it's actually the N97 mini that I was looking at - I think 'cause I thought Orange have that one.
The phone I've got just now is an SGH F480 Tocco - don't know if that's the Ultra, but probably not.0 -
We did the N97 Mini for about three weeks. It was pulled quickly though due to the high rate of returns for faults.
The Tocco Ultra is the next step from your phone now, a 8mp camera as well as both touchscreen and keypad facility makes it really popular. It's the best Samsung we do by far! Only downside is no wi-fi like the Jet, but the Jet just looks like any standard touchscreen phone.0 -
HORRRRRAYY
All sorted, god I love Orange :-)))
So NEW revised offer;
New offer-
18 month contract
Blackberry Bold
400 x network min
550 x text --- extra 50 texts
unlimited internet and email (bb data)
unlimited landline
£20 pm + £5 insurance
chuffed, seriously chuffed. although *trying to hold back* your deal might be slightly hotter than mine ;-)0 -
That sounds good, maybe I should be looking at that then. To be honest, all I want to be able to do is calls, texts, photos/video, browse internet. Doesn't seem difficult to find - but it seems there are a lot of the new phones don't have very good cameras.
On my list of maybes the only other one was the HTC Hero - but I don't think it has a flash on the camera and I think I would miss that. Other than that I see that a lot of people are getting a BB and whilst I really like the features, again the camera lets it down for me - or have I not been reading the info properly?
As you can tell - I really don't know what I'm talking about and just want a nice looking phone that will do the jobs for me!0 -
I dont know whether it is relevant o mobiles as it is to cameras, but I have always been taught that its not about the megapixels but the lens. You can shoot a great pic with low megapixels and good lens but not the other way round. All of my friends have thi phone and I was using the bold in the snow yesterday and the pictures are fab...
My favourite phones are, after much research-
I phone although would maybe wait a couple of more months
Omnia 2- great for internet tv etc
Blackberry Bold
HTC HD2- very very very nice phone and I think strongest rival to I phone
or cheaper.. HTC Hero, Blackberry Curve newer model or Nokia E71 or even Palm Pre
as far as I am concerned, just imo these would be the phones i would be looking at0 -
Reading this thread has really been helpfull its good to have a ground so we know whats a good deal and what isnt. I upgraded with orange about 5 months ago I was kind of in a rush (walking to catch the train to uni) so I guess maybe I didnt push hard enough
I got
18 month contract
htc touch 3g
200 xmin
500 texts
unlimited land line
80mb of internet
for £15 a month
Sandly my phone got stolen within the first week of it ariving and it took about 4 months to get an emergency replacment because I didnt put the simcard in the phone when I first got it so it didnt come up on their system
During those 4 months with orange with hours and hours of phonecalls, transfers to diffrent departments, "call backs" and email conformations that didnt arrive I got fed up. Half the people I spoke to didnt even believe me when I told them I upgraded becuase it wasnt showing up on their system but when they checked the upgrade archives they saw it their.
The last straw was when they mistakenly blacklisted my spare phone and said it wasnt a problem on their end, that it was possibly the phone that was faulty that took a couple of weeks to sort out lucky I double checked before I threw the phone out.
Credit where credits due after contacting the exec office via email they sent an emergency replacment handset out and it arrived next day for a charge but less then what the phone is worth so thats fine.
I phoned once or twice to speak to somone in customer services to see if I could get some small compensation for the 4 months of trouble like an upgrade to my internet package on the phone or soemthing but no luck so far.
What ive taken from this encounter is when you get an upgrade put the simcard in the phone and make a text so the phone registers on their system.
Already looking forward to my next upgrade 11 or so months
ps. i used the htc hd touch2 for a few days, its a great phone highly recomended0
