Orange Retention Offers

SpiritDawnWolf wrote: »Hi hopefulfooluk,
The business contracts are only a little different from the consumer ones for the iPhone - I believe there are approx 5 consumer tariffs (up to £75 I think) and there is only 3 of our Business tariffs for iPhone: £30 (600 mins), £40 (1200 mins) and £50 (2000 mins). All come with 200 texts as standard - however the consumer tariffs offer more texts but less minutes.
The main thing about your upgrade offer though, is that if you are already registered as a Small Business user then you can ONLY have the business tariffs, not the consumer ones.
And, unfortunately, we cannot discount the tariffs and the cost of the phone is pre-determined by your previous annual spend. You *may* get a higher capacity iPhone (the 32GB) if you take a 24 month contract, but as far as I am aware, they are still charged at £50 for the 32GB iPhone (this may have changed as I have been off for a week).
To be honest, with Business, the frontline staff have about the same amount of powers as Retentions as the costs of the handsets and any rules applied for discounts (or lack thereof!) were set by Apple themselves.
Hope that helps,
SDW
That's a great help SDW - thank you. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they can offer me and post back with the results.
Cheers!0 -
Just to update, just spoken to retentions (as opposed to upgrades!)
Got a HTC hero (£15), 400 mins, 550 texts, unlimited landline, free unlimited internet, free mobile broadband dongle (worth £6 per month)... £19.57 / month (18months contract)
Was also offered, free phone, 800 mins, unlimited texts/landline/internet, mobile internet dongle + car charger and 16GB memory card for £24.47 / month. (but went for the above instead as I thought I don't need all those minutes and texts and can buy the charger and memory card with the difference)
Very happy!
What do you think of this phone, any good ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I'm thinking of leaving orange and getting an iphone, but I've just seen the HTC Touch HD and thought that this was a rather nice phone.0

I just spoke to orange, and the orange rep said that the upgrade team and retention team are the same thing? Is he lying to me?0

I can't believe he lied! Unbelievable.
I phoned up upgrades, and without even negotiating with them asked them to put me through to retentions, they put me through and i got a better deal!0 -

Last week was offered as above
This week, now I am out of contract the advisor couldn't even offer me the same deal let alone any better!
He wanted it to be either a 24 month contract, lower range handset, 200 mins instead of 400 or an extra £5 a month!
I explained what I had been offered last week and he said
"there is no note on the system of any such deal" followed by "I'm not saying your a liar but I cant see how anyone in Orange could have offered you that deal with that phone unless it was a 24 month contract"
he also said "offers can get worse, maybe your loyality has gone down"
I explained I thought it would have been either the same or better since I am out of contract, will try again in an hour or two see how I get on
Well I phoned up 3 times yesterday and spoke to 3 different advisors - none of them could match the deal I had been offered last week - was very disappointed
Called up today and got the same, one lady more or less said take it or leave it!
Reluctantly I accepted the 200 mins as they said my average usage over the past 3 months was only 88 mins
Still would have prefered 400 of course but even today the lady could not work out how last sunday I had been offered what I had for the price
You win some you lose some I suppose
EDIT: All calls mentioned above were to retentions not upgrades0 -
I predict Tesco's IPhone prices do serious damage to O2 and Orange sales and retentions.
Only con I can see is they probably don't have as good 3g coverage as Orange.
12 months £20 p/m with £222 (8GB IPhone) up front is £462 for the duration of the contract, after which you could switch to a cheap sim-only deal. Or £560 if you want the 18GB IPhoneS
Contrast that with the closest contract on Orange (18 months) and it's £30 p/m (Once VAT goes back up next month) with £96.50 up front. Making it £634.50 or £722.50 if you want the IphoneS.
Admittedly the Orange one gives you 6 months extra line rental but with differences of £172.50 and £162.50 for 6 months extra line rental averaging at £27 - 28.75 p/m it doesn't take a money saving expert to work out that you'll get more for your money with tesco!
Very interested to see how orange and O2 respond, my contract is up in April, very happy with my TouchHD but sitting typing on my MacbookPro I'm very tempted by another Apple.0 -
5800 is very popular. Many consider it the cost effective iPhone. Bonus is the 8gig memory card in the box. Plus we only have the Comes With Music version so you get unlimited music downloads from the Nokia music store. Downside is the camera, only 3.2mp but adequate if not projecting images.
I don't rate the Jet in the slightest. Much prefer the Tocco Ultra if going for a Samsung. 5mp Camera is the only thing it beats the 5800 on plus the back of the phone looks horrible with the red stripes. Tocco Ultra has the benefit of being both touchscreen and having a keypad plus looks really good as a slide phone and 8mp camera.
If you ask for a PAC code you do indeed get retentions. However the N97 Mini was the one we sold. There was a stock update stating 600 were being made again to sell in upgrades, but I'm not sure if they were to clear an accidental back order of the phone or not. Personally I wouldn't get it, purely due to the amount of problems I've read about it.
I'd much sooner have one of the cheaper HTCs than the 5800. I wanted the 5800 when I last upgraded but it wasn't available yet. Very glad, ended up with Touch HD which has been phenomenal. Sister has got the cheaper Touch 3G which is also very good. Lots of friends have had the 5800 and can't stand it. For a nokia it is extremely un-user-friendly. Very poor quality touch screen, dreadful responsiveness compared to the HTCs and especially the IPhone.0 -
My contract is up for renewal, here is what I was currently on:
Panther 45
1000 extra rentention minutes
= 2200 x-net minutes
500 texts
unlimited data
free htc diamond
£40 per month
+ loyalty discount of 10%
So that works out @ £36 pm.
Am I likely to get anything similar now?0 -
Have been offered this. Nokia 6700 or LG Viewty Smart GC900 200 min unlimited texts and unlimited mobile internet £10.00 pm. Is this a good deal and would you go for the Nokia or the LG ?0
