I have just taken a HTC Hero for free £20 month unlimited texts unlimited internet unlimited landline calls and 400 xnet minutes on an 18 month contract. Not bad I thought.

Interesting you got unlimited Internet! I got told they didn't do Unlimited Internet and that all they could do is write it on the account so that when they did it I could have it free.

They don't do unlimited internet, it's advertised as so but has a fair use policy of 1gb per month

Hey, this is aimed particularly at lufcgirl, but any help would be great.

I'm currently on Dolphin 25 Websave, so £20 a month. My average spend is £22 over my contract so far. I'm about 3 months away from the end of my contract and am eligible for upgrade.

The phone I want is the HTC Hero, and after ringing loyalties and retentions a couple of times the deal I have been offered is:

200 mins, Unlimited texts, 80MB Internet + HTC Hero for £40 @ £20 per month

I can't find a better deal than this for this price, but the only problem I have is whether 80MB would be enough for internet. I've tried a number of times to better this deal but apparently Ive used up all my loyalty points. Guy in retentions said if I wait till the end of my contract I'd get more points, so may get a better deal.

Just wondering if there's any point in waiting. As I'm on such a low package, is it likely I'd be able to get unlimited internet even if i wait till end of contract? Or is it just better to go with what I've been offered and get the phone 3 months earlier (as I really want it!)as the deal I've been offered seems pretty good for a Band 2 upgrade.

And if anyone knows any better Hero deals out there, let me know!

    Cheers

Sorry for the long overdue reply, just been on holiday and then back at work for three straight days!
Problem with the internet is that we can't go above 80mb as part of an upgrade, the 500mb bundle would always be £5 a month and we couldn't discount it. So the guy in retentions is talking out of his behind, you won't get it for free at all even by waiting! It's a discount of £100 for the phone if you were a new customer so thats quite good, the only thing I could see them increasing by calling back would possibly be the amount of minutes. Good luck!

I'm just thinking now how many more upgrades I could get for myself just from this forums users!

How on Gods earth did you even manage to get a 9700?! They've been out of stock for so long and we can't even take back orders on them! Are you sure they didn't just save an offer on the system?

Good deal though, you must have built up a lot of loyalty! You must have been spending in excess of £100 a month to get a deal like that!

I'd much sooner have one of the cheaper HTCs than the 5800. I wanted the 5800 when I last upgraded but it wasn't available yet. Very glad, ended up with Touch HD which has been phenomenal. Sister has got the cheaper Touch 3G which is also very good. Lots of friends have had the 5800 and can't stand it. For a nokia it is extremely un-user-friendly. Very poor quality touch screen, dreadful responsiveness compared to the HTCs and especially the IPhone.

I've seen the 5800 and several colleagues have it and love the phone! It's down to personal opinion. I'd never expect someone with a HTC phone to want a Nokia after upgrading as they consider themselves more 'tech savvy'. Every customer I get who knows about HTC phones knows the exact specification on the handset and wants that.
For a mid to high range Nokia handset I think it's very good value for money, cheap on most price plans and for someone who has never had a touch screen phone before, perfect to get them started! I would never sell a HTC to someone who just wanted their first touch screen phone unless they had a particular specification or knowledge of the handset first.

I made a thread for thiis one earlier but hadn o luck, apologies if you've read this already but I was hoping to get more replies in this thread.

    Hi All

I've been reading this forum for a while; finally decided to make myself an account and get posting!

I'm after a Bold 9700, and i've done some browsing around - called up the big 4 provides and received quotes and deals from TMob and Orange. I just wondered if anyone has received particularly good deals. I've come to learn that there isn't a "best package" out there as it largely depends on the end users preferences.

The best quote I've got is from Orange. New customer, new plan, free Bold 9700, 24 month contract, 1200 mins, 500 texts, BB service (email + internet). It's the Panther 40 plan if anyone's wondering and comes in at £31.25 average. Cost per minuite is 2.6p/min assuming i use 1200 mins in my month.

What d'yall think of it? Anyone doing anything significantly better that I've missed out on?

    Thanks to all.

It's a new contract so has nothing to do with retentions sorry :o

Try places like CPW and Phones4u, see what they're offering for it!
