  • I'm now a couple of weeks out of contract. Currently pay just under £15 for 250 minutes and 100 texts with free broadband on an 18 month old g600. Which has been great. Don't use all minutes or texts.

Asked for htc hero and was told tarriff would stay the same, could keep free internet, but phone would cost £95.00.

5800 would cost £15.00 on the same terms.

When pushed they also offered free 80mb internet, which doesn't sound much to me.

Would happily take 5800 for free (or even begrudgingly cough up the £15.00).

However would like to do better. Can I achieve an improved deal?

  • I just offered, Nokia 5800 on an 18mth contract they have let me have it for £20 on the £14.67 tariff. Is this is a good deal?

just wondering, i got myself a £10/month 18 month contract several months ago. My average bill is £15. When it comes to renewal, will i be getting a really bad deal?

    Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been answered...but is it possible to use a sim from a standard orange tarrif e.g dolphin 35 with an orange iphone? Is there anything additional on the iphone tarrif that would cause the phone not to fully function with an animal tarrif?

    Thanks!

On your bill, what tariff does it say your on?
  • lufcgirl, my contract with Orange ends on the 10th of Dec, I'm currently on a £25 Canary 30 I think it is, 400mins, 500 texts. I also have Orange BB at £5 a month.

I wish to get a HTC Hero, with internet, preferably the 500mb one.

T Mobile have been doing a good deal of a free hero, 800mins and 500 texts and unlimited internet for a standard £30, but if one rings up etc I known several people who have got it for between £21.50 and £25, I myself was offered it for £25.

I'm happy with my mins and texts; I just want the hero and the 500mb internet. Will Orange be able to come near this deal?

I'll be ringing up tonight to try my luck anyway.

    Thanks

Ok, so everyone keeps asking me if such and such is a good deal, but I honestly don't know it's down to the individual. I'll make a few points though.

    1) If you are happy with the amount of minutes and texts being offered and they fit within your usage, theres no point of wanting more for the hell of it. Bear in mind the maximum recently we'll give off line rental with a decent phone is £5, take that into consideration too.

    2) If you want a particular handset, tell them that. If they can't do anything on it they most likely can't. Personally I'd rather use all of my budget and get a save than tell a customer to go away and not give them the best deal. Most operators are like that so don't assume they're all out to get you!

    3) Bar the 80mb internet (which is sometimes free to put on an account), every other bundle is chargeable at £5 per month with no way to discount it. You'd find by going on a Panther plan or something about £40p/m (I think) you'd get it included. So please factor this into any deal your thinking of.

And lastly, every customer is given a spend seperately. So theres no point calling and saying 'my Sister/Uncle/Brother/Cousin/Mum/Friend/Mate* got this deal' because it won't make the slightest bit of difference on your own. It can provide a rough idea of what your looking for but it doesn't mean they could match it. I can't tell you if you'd get offered a deal to stay because I can't see your account...I can usually see if you'd get offered better from the first deal orange offer you but thats about it!

  • Thanks for the reply, sorry to of been a nuisance.

As I said, I’ll give it a go tonight.

One thing that seems odd to me thought is every time I've been nearish the end of my contract, I've been rung up and offered x, y and z. But this time nothing, no one from Orange has called me once. Seems rather odd.

Your not being a nuisance at all!

It's our outbound teams who do the calling but I honestly don't know how they select the people they call.
I'd suggest taking a look over your bills for the past few months. Do you really need 800 minutes? Because if your only using say 300, is it worth the hassle of switching for minutes you'd never use?

Give them a call though, once you have an offer let me know what it is and I'll have a think and see if there's any way they could better it.
