I've never heard of that before ?
An offer is, usually, based on your spend over the last 6 months... But I'm sure lufcgirl will be along to give you a definitive answer any time soon !
  • I keep hearing this 'offer is based on your last 6months spend', but does anyone know the equation they used to justify what they offer you? My spend is a standard £25 a month and I have gone over this by £15 in total over the last 6 months, making my average monthly spend of £27.50. So what extra discounts etc could I get?

I also have orange Broadband unlimited at home for £5 a month (well 4 something because of a VAT) Does this give me any extra leverage?

    Thanks

    Des

The formulas built into the system, I doubt anyone other than the guys that programmed it would know.
Again, lufcgirl might have an insight as she works in that dept. . .

Just to give you an idea of what bandings there.

    £20 - £29 = Band 2
    £30 - £39 = Band 3
    £40 - £49 = Band 4
    £50+ = Band 5

Thats based on average bill spends, however this is not concrete it can vary depending on whether you have discounts applied and the like. If you don't go over at all then your banding will be low unless you are on one of the more expensive price plans.

Omg whats with all this banding rubbish?!

Banding is Orange company confidential information, it means nothing to anybody outside of the company. All it would do is make a customer feel valued or undervalued depending on this 'status' people are telling. Orange shops are notorious for it!

Theres nothing definitive that makes a customers spend on an upgrade higher or lower. Spend comes into it, but not as much as everyone makes out. It also has how many calls you make and recieve. How many of your inclusive minutes and texts you use, basically what revenue you bring in for the company.

Also theres no thing where we'll match someones tariff based on a relatives. Nonsense!
  • Hi Lufcgirl

Any thoughts on what I have just been offered?

Current contract ends on 10 Dec 09
    Current handset Samsung G600
    I get 400 Mins + 500 Texts
Free Broadband + Free Itemised bill
Currently pay £14.69 month over 18 month contract

Was offered Nokia 6303 - Managed to get sales advisor to offer me Nokia 6700 for same price
    Offered 400 Mins + 300 Texts
Free Broadband + Free Itemised bill
For £14.67 a month over 18 month contract

Do you think this is any good?

Any chance I will get a better deal in a few days time when I am out of contract?

Also I requested my PAC on 18th Nov, I'm led to beleive that it lasts for 30 days - Does this mean I will automatically get disconnected if I dont upgrade before 17 Dec?

    Thanks in advance

You wont get automatically disconnected on 17th. The PAC would just expire and you'd need another one.

You wont get a better deal either when the contract ends. For £15 per month it's a really good deal. If it fits within your usage of course. The 6700 is very popular at the moment so a good all round handset to go for for someone who doesn't want touchscreen.

If it was me and it fitted my usage pattern plus the bonus of the free broadband (which isn't offered anymore) I'd go for it.
  • Thank you for the quick reply

The 400 minutes + 300 texts is actually more than I use

Do you think I could get it for say £12.50 a month either if I offer to reduce my minutes and texts or opt for a 24 month contract ?

I honestly don't think so, worth a try though! But I have a feeling from the offer they've already discounted the tariff by £5 a month.
