    Hi

Just tried to arrange an upgrade, and was told that Orange have pulled the Sony Ericsson Satio due to major technical problems with the phones. Anyone know any more about this? Will it be long before they can offer them again?

    Cheers

Not that I've heard, still available for order on the website too, it is currently out of stock however

I'm currently out of contract (18 mths, 40 p/m) with Orange and wish to upgrade my phone.

I would like an HTC Hero, and have seen an upgrade deal on CW for Racoon £35, 24 months, Unlimited minutes Anytime Landline, 900 minutes Anytime Any network, Unlimited Internet Anytime Any network and 500 texts Anytime Any network. This seems an OK deal to me. Phone is free.

Would going direct to Orange retentions get me any additional benefits? Would like to get the monthly cost down to £30 ideally. Thoughts?

FAO lufcgirl, not sure if you missed my post on P103, but would certainly appreciate your thoughts/advice. Thanks in advance.

IMHO I very very much doubt you'd get it down to £30 p/m. The plan itself is normally £35 p/m and thats an online discount. You then need to add an unlimited internet bundle for £4.89 a month taking the total up to £40 p/m or thereabouts.

To get it at £30 you'd have to give the customer a discount of £240 for £10 off for 24mths and then give the handset for free. I'd give it a shot but I'm not entirely sure. You would need to speak to retentions rather than upgrades though. The guys there are really good and I'm sure they'd be able to make a deal with you.

99.9% sure that thats wrong..I haven't heard anything and if it had been I would have heard about it, I have a Satio myself so would obv be concerned too!!! it has been low on stock but there is a pre-order process for retail so doubt its been pulled otherwise there wouldnt be pre orders and stock wouldn't be going in to stores!

I'm sorry what you see for the iPhone is what you get. They can't even discount a text bundle at the moment. It's basically because everyone knows people will pay a premium after o2 and what they did with their price plans.

Personally I hate the Hero, but thats probably because I have an iPhone ;)

We don't sell very many of them either now, it's kinda classed as an old phone!

Does that mean you can get good deals on the Hero then? ;)

lol nope! For some unknown reason to me, it's still a high priced handset!
  • lufcgirl,

Am i likely to get any better than £15 per month/24 months on the HTC Tattoo? I believe i am upgrade class 2 (According to an Orange shop). At the very least i was hoping for some internet included in that - and possibly only 18 month contract.

I don't think so, looking online I can't even see the phone offered on a £15 price plan so they must be giving you a few discounts already!
  • many thanks,

The phone is for my GF. The other phone she liked was the SE W595. Would there be a better deal to be had on that? it is available for £100 (£80 with o2) on PAYG yet seems to be in the same contract deals as the Tattoo.

My wife is due an upgrade on Monday, she currently has a good deal from her last retention offer 18 months ago. She pays about £20 a month for 750 minutes and unlimited texts. Is it likely that she'll get any better this time round? Ideally she wants unlimited data and a slightly reduced package again, the long term idea is to let her have my iPhone when my o2 contract runs out (I've just had it unlocked) so she can use it and not have to pay the iPhone tariff, I don't know if they use iPhone tariff sims only though?

So for example, if we get a Hero and some free data, could she then just ditch the Hero and put the sim in an iPhone?

It's not the end of the world though, just wondering what we can expect for the second retention deal really.
