Orange Retention Offers

I am being offered 400 mins + 800 texts and 3000 mins to landlines.
The thing is I have never used above 82 mins in a month and 200 texts would do me.
I hardly ever phone anyway.
Perhaps they looked at my usage and gave me a seemingly big amount to try to look like a bargain knowing I would never use it.
Maybe I could bargain with them to drop mins and text for free internet on the Hero.
Have you tried calling them and asking if they'll drop the min and text and give you free internet instead ? It's always worth a call, you never know. . .0 -

Result! Got phone today. Just phoned Orange, got wonderful girl called Vicky (Geordie lass). Package is now :
400 cross network minutes
800 texts
Unlimited landlines
and ...500 MBs Internet access!
all for £19.65 per month.
My first two calls were with miserable blokes. (I wonder if Vicky is available?)
This was my third call. So don't give up people.
Thanks Jon010 -

Nice one.
With out knowing Vicky I'd careful, one of my mates describes the girls up there as 'having a face like a bag of spanners' !!! which I thinks a bit harsh. . .0 -

In fact she went on to say that as I am on the Virgin OVP thing there is no way the system could have offered me a deal anyway
<snip>
To get an offer to upgrade from the OVP I need to come off it at my next billing point - 3 weeks - and then go onto a new PAYG SIM and then they would be able to make me an offer.
Is that the Virgin price match tarrif they were doing a few years ago? I've been on that since 2002, and was recently looking to change to a 'proper' contract, but went into several stores and they told me I'd have to ring 150 instead. Haven't bothered doing that yet, but if your tale is anything to go by I'm not confident0 -
Yes its the Virgin OVP
As I said Orange couldnt have been less helpful
They wouldnt even quote me the second time I phoned saying their system wouldnt allow it - but if I waited 3 weeks then went PAYG they would be able to offer me something but again wouldnt say what it would be!
And it seems Im not the only person to have recently been offered a deal which they have then erased all details of when you call back to discuss it further
Anyway I spoke to t-mobile today
Ofcom even tell me the nearest mast to my house is t-mobile, which is nice
Offered HTC Hero clone
18 month contract
800 mins talk
300 texts
3GB !!! data
Initially £35 reduced to 25 when I politely said "whats the best you can do"
Im happy with that
The guy said dont port my number immediately either
I even get to play with it with no obligation for a week
Cheers and thats you lot0 -

Oh joyOne of the shops I went into said that about having to switch to PAYG and then back to a contract, god knows why. Regardless of the getting a good deal bit, surely they could just move you onto a contract with them at a few clicks of a mouse, as with the OVP it's not like you're going to be waiting for a contract to end.
Hmm might give 'em a ring next week and see what's what.0 -
Any upgrade offer is based on your spend over the last 6 months. With the OVP tariff that's going to next to nothing. . .0
-
Not neccessairly, all my monthly bills for about the last two years have been above £10p/m, and within the last year the majority have been around the £20p/m (either just over or just under). Have had a couple of one off months where it's been substantially higher too.0

That's still a lot more than OVP there are no monthly fee's apart from call charges. . .0

Sorry Jon, may be my addled mind, but I don't follow your last post?0
