Chuffed with my deal.
Got 1200 cross network minutes, inlimited landlines, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, free sat nav
for £19.50 per month!!
With a Sony new phone!
Also, just checked my bill and they are offering me £10 discount per month (until March) so really I am paying £9.50 per month!
Yippeeee!
I have to say though that my monthly bills were ridiculously high!Total Quidco earnings - £547.98
Everyone is scared of someone or something, everyone loves someone or something, and everyone has lost someone or something! BE NICE!0 -
Long term PAYG customer
Modest usage 5-10 pounds a month
Played the iphone card and asked for PAC code
Offered:
Free HTC Hero
900 x network minutes
Unlimited landlines
500 texts
500MB data
2year contract - initially 30 a month dropping to £25 after sucking air through teeth in hysterical manner
Asked for 18 months
Would only offer 40 quid a month - no budging
Told them Id think about it
(Mainly due to the fact Id rather have less minutes for an 18 month contract at the same price)
They politely said 'fine' and asked me to call back after the weekend!

Ahhh just seen this is available at 30 a month on the Orange website for anybody
Im not being ungrateful but.......
Is this par for the course or a first offering?
Comments appreciated0 -
Offers are based on your spend over the last 6 months, so there isn't really a par for the course everyone's is a little different. There are different way of getting the system to generate an offer but there are limits in the system which the agents can't go beyond..0

Thanks for the post
What would you give my chances of being offered a better 2 year deal?

Depends on your spend over the last 6 months.
The cost of the handset has to be covered. Look for the best sim free price you can find for the Hero and knock off, say 50% (I've no idea what the networks pay for handsets, but if I was buying several thousand I'd expect at least 50% !!). Add a bit for the network running costs and see what you get.
That price has to be covered by the total of all the payments in the 24 months.0 -
I have 2 phones on the one contract and upgraded the both of them yesterday.
Deal 1
Samsung Jet - free
800 mins
1300 texts
unlimited landlines
80mb internet
18 month contract
£24.47
Deal 2
HTC Hero - free
400 mins
300 texts
unlimited landlines
unlimited internet
£19.56
I was quite happy with those, bills for the past 18 months have been around the £75 mark for both phones. Cross network minutes don't matter that much as nearly all calls are to magic numbers or landlines.
Does this seem like a good enough deal?0 -
Anyone tried for the Motorola Dext yet?
I'm about 2 months away from the end of an 18mth contract, been with Orange about 10 years, 500 mins, 100 texts, heaps of magic numbers for £15 a month, although I have spent over this for 2 of the last 6 months because of roaming charges.
I could stretch to £20 a month, but would need some internet mins included......
Do you think I stand a chance?
Any advice on how to get the best deal?
Thanks for any help you can give folks xxSome days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
Am in the last month of my contract now and have given up on getting the Iphone as I just don't want to spend a lot of money for the phone when I have an Ipod touch anyway. Have decided to get the HTC Hero so phoned up Orange today and got offered the following deal:
200 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Internet (500mbs anyway)
£25/month contract (18 months)
Phone will cost me £16.50 as they reckoned this was the cheapest it would go down too. Now I know £16.50 for the phone is not much but my argument with them was that I had been a customer with them for 6 years and, on getting bored of their insistence that it was ONLY £16.50, I tried explaining that if £16.50 was really not that big a deal for me to pay then why don't they pay it and keep me as a customer as I'd sign the new contract straight away if they did. They said there was nothing they could do so I am slightly inclined to just hold out for another week or so and see if I can speak to someone else in the retentions team and get the same contract with the phone for free.
£16.50 is not much but would have thought they would rather pay that and keep me as a customer for another 18 months rather than risk me leave to give my money to one of their competitors.
Should I hold out and get them down to giving me the phone for free or just accept the £16.50 charge?0 -
Well its goodbye Orange then
I just phoned to talk about the 24 pounds deal they offered me 3 days ago.
I was soon put on hold for 10 mins approx whilst 'the supervisor' was consulted in retentions
The operator then explained she had no log of my conversation last week but could see that I had contacted them
She couldnt see the deal I was offered
In fact she went on to say that as I am on the Virgin OVP thing there is no way the system could have offered me a deal anyway
This seemed to me a thinly veiled suggestion that i was lying
Im not sure what offends me the most:
Being accused of lying when I blatantly wasnt or dealing with the same company last week and being lied to at this time with the deal I was offered
To get an offer to upgrade from the OVP I need to come off it at my next billing point - 3 weeks - and then go onto a new PAYG SIM and then they would be able to make me an offer - on the basis of 24h as a then new customer I dont fancy my chances
Im really hacked off
I dont want to do business with a company which behaves like this
EDIT: Just to clarify my cheesed offness
The woman today couldnt see any record of my call last week other than the system has me logged as having rung, it didnt have any details of the deal I was offered
When I told her she said there was no way I could have been offered ANY deal from my current monthly plan
This intimated that I was lying - which I wasnt
But more to the point whoever offered it to me last week must have been giving me dodgy advice if indeed their computer system doesnt actually recognise me on my current contract
Grrrrrr0
