Orange Retention Offers

Slightly OT here
I phoned up Orange today to tell them I was terminating my PAYG which Ive had for over 10 years and thinking of buying an iPhone - I had low expectations of bagging a deal
I know theres been lots of gossip about Orange/Tmobile getting it but nothing substantive
Anyhow what I really wanted was an HTC Hero or a Nokia N97 and I was happy to pay for either and go on contract at a higher rate
Well imagine my surprise, as they say LOL, when the retention girl told me they are getting the 3GS iPhone in 1-2 weeks and I should call back then!!!!
She also then said I actually couldnt have the N97 as Orange have just decided the warranty and returns just arent worth their while and have dropped it
Again more shock and horror
I was lost for words
I promise I'll report back in the aforementioned 1-2 weeks when they have the iPhone to see what deals are offered - which I suspect will be none but now theres competition who knows?0 -
My contract is up with Orange, and they're not very forthcoming with a good deal... do I need to actually cancel before they'll come up trumps?0

I personally have the HTC Hero, but my misses contract is up (upgrade available since 19.09.). Think she will happily wait another wee while to grab it.0 -
Hi!
I am thinking of taking out a contract with Orange. They have offered me a Blackberry curve 8900 (free) with
400mins
300text
unlimited internet
for just over £26/month
18 month contract
Is this a good offer?
Thank you
sorry...forgot to say, I am a new customer.0 -

That seems like a great deal to me, especially for a new customer. Where were you offered it? Store, online or phone? What did you do to get them to lower their price so much.0 -
In store...he said he could reduce the price because I work for the NHS.
Are Orange the best mobile phone company? I have been with 3....but dont want to continue....0 -

This rumours been going round for a while.
IF and its a big if Orange are going to be carrying the iPhone no one on the frontline knows about it and is guessing.
I work for Orange (and not on the frontline) we were talking about this today, we're buying iPhones on O2 payg which tells you how much we think Orange is going to be getting it. . . (sorry).0 -
Sorry to bump, but can someone tell me WHEN you are getting these deals? Are you saying you want to cancel, Orange are letting you then they call back, or do they come up with the deal as soon as you say you want to cancel? Or do you ask for the Retentions Dept right away?
Please help, as they're not really offering me much, despite me being with them pretty much since Orange began, and me having spent close on £8k with them over the years!
Ta muchly!

I got a brilliant deal earlier (i think!)
Just rang up 450 off my PAYG mobile, keep pressing 3 until you get to a human being..
Spoke to an indian fella, i asked him for my PAC code, he said why am i asking for it? have we done something to annoy you? etc... asked me to confirm my address and my phone number and said he would post it to me.
I asked him if that was it, and is he not going to transfer me to their retentions team?
So he did.
Lovely young man, didn't get his name, in the retentions department asked me why I wanted my PAC.
Told him I wanted to go onto a contract and was offered a fab deal elsewhere, he asked me to state the deal and he'd try and match or better it... he gave me a much better deal - didn't need to haggle at all... and I bit his hand off! Job Done!0 -

Can you not post details of your deal so other members here can see what they could be asking for?? It would be helpful if you didn't mind.
TIAThe art is not in making money, but in keeping it!!!0
