  • I was technically on the Dolphin 35 tariff, which should have been £35, but due to a deal when I took out the contract I was only paying £25 and then I kept downgrading it. I'm now at £16 something a month and I still managed to keep the tarriff and get the HTC Hero, but like I said, Orange (weirdly) wouldn't let me do it directly, which is why I had to go through phones4U, who also gave me £30 to trade in my old viewty handset :)
  • Thanks everyone who answered my post! I'll try phoning them again and asking to speak to someone else, and also see what my letter says (when I recieve it - nothing yet). I think I am annoyed more than anything that they don't think I'm a loyal customer after 7 years but oh well! lol. Still time for me to try and get something sorted, fingers crossed x

Attempting to pay off our debts! Balances Jan 2018 -

Called Orange to get a better deal and didn't have to fight a jot. I was on a Dolphin 35 500mins and unlimited text for £29.95 month. I was only using around 100 texts a month and about 100mins.

I've now got a Nokia 6700, 400 mins to mobile, free landline calls, 1300 texts 18 mb data free a month and a free internet dongle at 45 mins a day which roll over if I don't use them daily.

I'm happy with that and only £15 a month.
  • Hi all.

I'm hoping someone here will be able to offer advice. I've been trawling around the interent trying to find out what would likely happen if I phoned Orange and asked for an updated phone. I've been a contract customer for approx 12 years and am currently around 15 months into an 18 month contract. I'm after a new phone as the one I have (Samsung Soul) is showing signs of wear and tear with a battery life that worsens by the week.

Has anyone else tried to upgrade early and what was the result.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I think you can upgrade from month 15 but not sure how good the deals are. I am in month 17 and called on the off chance to see when I am out of contract and the girl said in Oct but they can upgrade me now. However I think people get much better deals when they go thru to retentions and are out of contract so I am waiting until then.

Tell us what your current plan is and what your average monthly spend is. If it is extremely high, Orange may take exception to this and offer you good deal off the bat, but as the above poster said, wait till month 17 and request your PAC code, that'll usually get you good retention deals.

  • hi-
i am trying to upgrade to HTC hero, been with orange circa 10 yrs and reckon am at least 1 yr overdue an upgrade (oops). Regularly pay £40- 50 / mth, plan £29 without VAT. Suffice to say, they have had their money out of me over the years :o

Think the best deal involves me taking at a new orange contract with dial a phone, how do i make sure i can port my number over or is that a risk?

disconnections team have offered me v good price - 14.67 for usage i need but phones are falling way short i think. (ericson w705, samsung preston and a nokia)

Anyone know of a good mid range phone as an alternative? web/ email/ camera all important to me.

    Thanks v v much
  • I have just upgraded with orange and will get my htc hero on tuesday.

I pay £20 for the handset and get 900 mins unlimited txts, internet, sat nav and insurance for £35 per month 18 month contract which is what i am paying now anyway.

When i tried upgrading through the orange website they wanted £160 for the handset:eek:
  • Estiban! How did you do it? What was your average spend on your old contract??

I've just called up as today is the magical 5th of Sep which was mentioned as an offer date by someone on this forum........

I got offered 2300mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, orange maps, a bluetooth headset and in car-charger and the HTC Hero handset on an 18 month contract for £35per month (PLUS VAT I presume?) and £77.50 for the phone.

I asked the really nice man if he could drop the accessories or the minutes and give me the phone for free but apprently not. He suggested I wait till the end of month and again stated that they would not match T-Mobile.

    Humph :(

First i asked how myuch it would cost if i was going to cancel my contract, he told me it would be two months line rental which would be £70.

He asked why i was thinking of cancelling i said that i am due an upgrade and had a look at the website and can better deals on other networks, he asked what it was and said he would try and match it so i told him i could get the phone for free with t-mobile with 700 mins unlimited txts and internet for £36.50.

He put me on hold and got back to me with the deal that i got, i could have mabey negotiated a bit more but was happy with it since i have absolutly no intention of leavng orange:cool:

On my old contract i was £35 a month a never went over my 600 mins so never paid extra.
